Going to stuff the big mustang radiator in there tomorrow.
My under hood temps are ridiculous, coolant gauge never goes below the half way mark, and I can tell that the A9L is pulling timing once hot. The car turns into a slug once it is up to temp.
I saw a stock e30 radiator was used in a lemons car... I just don't see it being practical.
Ford 5.0 swap into a Bronzit. Update: Now running, VIDEO ADDED.

If you have to buy the swap crap. (E30v8 pan, mounts, guide, ect..) then i'd say it can be done in the $2k-2.5k range by the time you get the rad, fuel stuffs, random shit to make things run proper. Obviously it all depends on how many deals you can find.Leave a comment:

Heading to the yard on saturday! They charged me 100 to shorten the aluminum and balance, hoping the steel will be less.
Any idea what the diameter is of a stock fox driveshaft? I'm thinking I'll take an old u-joint up there and just find something that uses the same joints but 2.5" or so in diameter. maybe I'll get lucky and find something that's already the proper length.Leave a comment:

A little far for me, biggest event I'll be going to this year is h2o in ocean city, MD.
Made some good progress today, moved the trans over about a half inch and that took care of the low speed vibrations. Still need a new driveshaft though, at around 80mph you can feel it start to hit the body. I'm done with it, going to drive it for now and when I can, I'll have a new tube made out of steel. The aluminum driveshaft is just too thick to be practical.Leave a comment:

This car needs to be at the Spring Brodeo! It's less than an 8 hour drive...Leave a comment:

Motors and tranny can be had cheap, keep your eyes on CL. I don't know down there, but around here CL is littered with 5.0's stock to modified. My buddy just picked up a motor and tranny for $500.
Dollar amount is tough, I agree with exodus, but it depends on how much self discipline you have.....mine was going to be a basic carb swap....now it's a FI, fuel injected MS2 (thanks exodus) monster.
You can learn to fab stuff, or checkout e30v8. If there is something you can't build, they have it for the swap, it'll just cost more out of your pocket.Leave a comment:

I've got <$400 in mine, but I traded labor for the drivetrain and I welded up my own oil pan/crossmember/slave cylinder mount.
If you are creative and good with your hands, it won't cost much. The only things I couldn't avoid are driveshaft work, conversion flange, bought the mounts to save some hassle.
I'd imagine it could be done for <$2k on average. I do however have at least 30 hours of labor into it, if you go carb it will be a lot easier. Then again, wiring the FI up wasn't hard, just time consuming.Leave a comment:

Hey guys, I'm very slightly entertaining the idea of this swap. I have been stockpiling turbo parts for a good few months and estimate being able to sell it all for around $1400ish, plus a few other many parts I have lying around. How cost effectively do you think I could pull this off? I don't have fab skills, but I have been looking for a reason to learn some.
Do you think this swap (5.0/t5) could be done for <$2000ish? I would have access to a lift and I have a second car so I can take my time doing the swap. I would probably be going the carb route. There are a bunch of 5.0s in the yards nearby, many being from explorers, so I could have the gt40 heads and such, as well as be able to sell the FI setup to recoup some of the money.
What do you guys think?Last edited by TimbyMaTombo; 04-09-2013, 10:17 AM.Leave a comment:

HOLY CRAP! for real?
I drove a m42 with a 4.10, that was just way to high. I don't want to be in boost when I'm at 60 in 5th gear hahaha.Leave a comment:

Once hot they're actually not to bad. I'm impressed with the rs3's. I'm definitely looking to trade my 3.73 lsd for a 2.90ish lsd though, any takers?
This vibration is driving me crazy though, going to take a hard look at the drive-line angle this afternoon.Last edited by Exodus_2pt0; 04-09-2013, 08:29 AM.Leave a comment:
