Hello all,
For the last month this forum has been a valuable resource for me as I just picked up an 89 alpine coupe. I figured I would contribute and do a little show and tell of what I have been working on today.
Last week I went to pick-n-pull in search of an lsd, and happened upon these

For some they may look a bit scary, but recently I have started reupholstering different things, starting with motorcycle seats, and now I feel up to the challenge of something bigger. I couldn't say no to the price either as the junkyard sells seats for a flat rate, and I dont have sport seats in my car.
Ill let the pictures do most of the talking. I tried to take pictures but didn't get everything as I get pretty zoned into whatever im working on.
My machine (1950 Singer Model 15-91)

I started with the back of the seat and disassembled all the upholstered bits

I then did all the seem ripping so I could make patterns from cardboard.

I then cut out my materials and sewed them together. Im using tan vinyl and nice heavy tan suede. I used a single french seam as this is a very strong stitch and it puckers the material which makes it similar to the original welting that the seats had.

One bolster done

Two

The center section is basically one big piece. I decided to sew lines similar to the original seat. There is a piece of vinyl sewn to the back of the material in order to attach it to the seat back and suck the material closer to the foam.
Before stretched and attached

After stretched (I did the headrest the other day to see if I liked the material)

I have yet to start the seat bottoms, but I have made the covers for both upper seat portions. Hopefully I will start to tackle those within the next week.
Here is a motorcycle seat I just completed

Thanks for looking!
