    A BoxFlare Journal: E30 M3 l OZ l Mfest l EAS

Hello All, I figured since with the upcoming Festivities here in California (Bimmerfest, Mfest), I would share what my brother (SteadyAim on the forums) and I will be bringing. I am sure you've seen his recent post on his car in Newport Beach under the "Member's Rides" forum, but just want to fill in the blanks as the car is with me in Socal until Bimmerfest. The car was found on Ebay and was listed with a price we couldn't refuse.

The Norcal caravan back home from Bimmerfest 2011 and we ended up running into my dad on the way back home.

    Current Mods:

    Exterior:
    -OEM Hella Smoked European Smilies
    -6k DDMTuning HIDS
    -3k DDMTuning HID fogs
    -Euro Grills
    -Euro Plate Filler
    -Startec Taillights
    -EVOIII Undertray/Splitter
    -Matte Black Grills
    -4wy Adjustable DTM Wing
    -92' CF Gurney Flap

    Suspension/Wheels:
    -G/C Full Coilovers
    -OZ Futura 17x8.5/9.5et13
    -Falken Fk452 205/35/17(f) 245/30/17(r)

    Interior:
    -Cloth Recaro N'Joys
    -Custom Recaro Brackets/Rails

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-After bringing the car home from Utah/Bimmerfest, it was obvious the car needed attention so I proceeded to a full detail as the "AlpineWhite" had a yellow hue to it. Such a huge difference!!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    -Who likes packages? OZ Futura 17x8.5 & 17x9.5 et13 :D

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Period correct Recaro N'Joys w/ custom brackets, OEM Hella Smoked Euro Smileys, Euro bits, and a dtm adjustable wing

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Dashboard was cracked so my cousin and I tore out and installed a crack-free dash

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Was able to get ahold of Brand New startec taillights. OEM vs. Startec. Another addition, vanity plates "DTMBRED"

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Pictures of the e30 m3 at it's early stage with a few of my dad's other toys including my e46 :)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Fast forward to a week before Mfest VI....Complete G/C Coilovers arrived and wheels are mounted!

    ---------------------------------------------------

-The fenders were rolled as soon as the coilovers were installed to fit the 17x9.5 OZ Futuras under the wheel wells nicely :)

-M-Fest VI Shots with fresh led lighting up front purchased through DDMTuning

-"Respect Your Elders" sticker on the DTM Gourney for daily use at its highest setting lol

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Alongside my brother's daily (my first m3). Alpine White M3/4/5. My parents were the first owners and bought it brand new back in '97. Running strong at 170k miles!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Not long after the wing was replaced with a rare brand new 92' Gourney Flap from Germany
    NEED MOAR DOWNFORCE!!!!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Of course with just my luck the car decided to die on me on my way home at a stoplight one night. The car sat at European Auto Source in Anaheim for a few months in hopes to fix this irritating issue. Cool guys forsure, they will be seeing me in the future for my maintenance/upgrades!! We later found out the the "no-start" issue was not due to the fuel pump nor crank position sensors, it was in fact the ECU itself!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    - 2 OEM EVO III Undertrays
    - Replica Front Splitter (temporary)
    - OEM European headlight washer system
    - New Plates

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-A few updates of how the car sits to date, with the exception of the headlamp washer system and E3 undertray/splitter. Pictures taken by my brother himself!!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Alongside my 190e 2.3-16 at the local C&C in Irvine, CA along with some random shots

As of recently we found that the rough idles, loss of power, oil leaks had been due to a crack in the exhaust valves, bad oil pan gaskets.. So we took the car to e30motorwerks to have the top end completely rebuilt and the head machined along with a refresh of every hose, bushing, gasket, and every rotten part that a normal 25yr old car would have :)

Here's what was replaced at E30Motorwerks, big thanks to Robert and their team for helping us out!

      - Rebuilt Cylinder Head
      - Fresh Head Gaskets
      - Fresh Rod Bearings
      - Fresh Exhaust Valves
      - NewTiming Chain Rails
      - Rebuilt oil pump
      - Rebuilt Oil Pan top/bottom
      - Poly Alternator Bushings
      - Fresh Hoses
      - Valve Adjustment/Shims

      Cracked Exhaust Valves!!!

      ---------------------------

-Update!!! With everything refreshed I am happy to say that things will be ready by bimmerfest, with a few more cosmetic things to install by then :)

Very nice pics! Thanks for sharing.

Not too many people have E30M3 and the Merc Cosworth. Good choice!

And the cargo box will tell me why you have such good taste. :)

Great work and it sounds like the car has gotten some much needed love!

I think the OZ's look great too. Just needs a sticker delete kit. ;)
