    Ahhhh here it goes.....

I decided to make a bit of a project thread to keep up with my latest purchase. I picked up a 1990 325i vert this weekend. I'm planning on basically cleaning it up, doing a TON of maintenance, and doing some of the better modifications I performed on my other e30s. I figure starting a thread will keep me more organized.

I'm currently driving an 86 325es with the "327i" conversion that looks way better than it is. I was installing an exhaust and thought the floor looked a little weird. I pulled up the carpet for find that 75% of the floor, mainly where it meets the firewall, was rusted completely through and covered in bondo. Needless to say it's toast.

I was looking for an early shell (prefer them) and came across this vert on here last week. The title was lost but I've dealt with that a few times with other cars and the seller worked with me to get that squared away.

Issue #1 uhaul effed me on the trailer I reserved. My uncle went to pick it up for me and they only had a dolly. I hate pulling these on dollys, but being that it was basically destined for the junk yard, I wasn't waiting.

I got it home and started going through everything to see what it needed. The front seats are pretty ripped and the rears are faded. The top is a 6 out of 10, but it doesn't leak and its not ripped so I'll use it for now. The body is nice, and after crawling around looking for some sort of rust issue, I was pretty satisfied to find nothing. Everything is super solid.

The lower front valance was laying in the car, the dash was cracked and missing a glove box. It has the stupid air bag wheel and I hate the third brake light. I'll be pulling my clean dash/glove box and mtech 1 wheel from the black car when I part it. My wheels will make their way onto this car and I'm taking the trunk with the IS spoiler and having it matched as well. I found a stack of receipts and some treasures in the trunk.

The car over heats, but I think my massive box of stuff from Pelican will address that. It runs great and the transmission/shift linkage was rebuilt fairly recently according to the receipts. I plan on finding euro bumpers/grilles/smiles within the next month, and having the car pretty solid before the Pittsburgh Vintage Gran Prix in July.

    End of day one.;)

Nice find! I'm sure it'll look sweet once you swap over the goodies from your black car.

Dude... You have to make an .mp3 of that cassette tape.

              Ok so day two...

I did some cleaning and swapped head units. I bought a JVC digital media receiver so I could have bluetooth. I also pre wired for the German Audio Specialties box I ordered.

So I buffed out the paint pretty well, It's not a professional job, but it already looks way better.

I also cleaned up the rockers and hit them with some SEM trim paint

              before

              After

I also hit the bumper strips, and I jacked a can of bed liner from my step dad to spray the crappy painted lower valance and make it a little more presentable until I gather all the euro bits I need.

I bought some leather care stuff (I can't remember who made it at the moment) and started scrubbing the rear interior.

              End of day two!

Also I just placed an order for new upholstery stuff for the front seats from that zoomzoomzoom guy on ebay. I read good things about those kits and my aunt is pretty great at doing fabric work. I also picked up pretty much everything to rebuild the suspension, and every maintenance item I could think of. The next few weeks are going to be busy. I'm hoping to have it ready to drive by the time the title comes in, but working 50-60 hours a week doesn't leave too much time to work on things. I'm sure I'll get by.

That said, once its on the road I'll be parting the black car.

Little bit of an update (mostly for me to have a list). The past few days when I had time I tore into the engine to take care of some maintenance, and I picked up some parts.

                      I did:
                      Timing belt
                      tensioner plus hardware
                      water pump
                      intake manifold gaskets
                      thermostat housing gasket
                      throttle body gasket
                      breather hose
                      injector o rings
                      intake boot
                      belts
                      fuel hoses
                      silicone coolant hoses
                      coolant res cap
                      thermostat
                      plugs
                      wires
                      cap/rotor
                      ignition coil
made new ground cables from 2 gauge
cleaned up the intake manifold and valve cover
                      valve adjustment

So that should be taken care of for a while.

I also have some goodies on the way.. Ordered some Bilstein sports, a luke box, euro bumpers, ge coil overs and I should have my upholstery kit very soon.

Take pictures of the lukebox install, it would be cool to see it done on the vert.

Theres a really good thread showing the install under his sn. But I plan on getting some pics as I do mine anyway. I'm probably going to do the same for the euro bumpers and when I re-cover the seats.
