Someone with the same mindset... I also traded some old tires from my Subaru for a welder + mask. Never welded in my life. Planning on picking up some metal and just browsing youtube like you did.

I followed you on IG as well.

Also, have you looked much into locating a S52 + Harness + DME ect. Talked to multiple yards in WA and have had negative responses.

The welds will go 100% better when you have shielding gas.

Thanks for the advice, I figured as much. The flux isn't TO bad, but I can definatly see where the shielding gas would improve the integrity of the welds for a much smoother bead.

When I bought my S52 it had the harness with it. As for the DME...It fell out while being shipped to me, so I had to purchase one on BF.C from the classifieds.

The PnP yards here are kind of hit and miss. I think Ill go scavenging for a throttle body sometime soon if something good pops up.

Nice trade. What kind of welder did you pickup? All I can say is...practice, practice, practice. Also If you would like to know where I got my material from shoot me a PM.

Thanks! Yeah don't post many projects on the forums (and just the cool stuff on IG), but a majority of our clients are older BMW's.

Lincoln Electric Weld Pac 100. Nice little starter one. My brother's friend has a massive garage, plasma torch, MIG and TIG all readily available for my usage.

Planning on cutting out my rusty as fack floor boards and welding in some new aluminum and sealing. As well as my trunk.. Might just run rear bash bar and fuel tank in the rear since I have so much rust in those areas.

If you ever want / need a hand, I'm only like 35 mins away, and work in Fife on the week days!
