just be ready to do a HG on the m50. for some reason every single 525iT has had "cooling system refresh", which is just a misdiagnosed HG issue. just putting it out there. also a 5spd conversion is a pretty major job on e34 24v cars. more involved than a 24v drivetrain swap on an e30.IG: @Baye30

I know somebody selling an E34 Touring in Henna with an M50 (or might me an M52, can't remember) He's 5-speed swapping it, too. LMK if you want a price on it. Bit of a trek for the car to make, as it's in KC...‘Tis by the grace of God that my cars run!Originally posted by LJ851kingston is the play by play announcer for this thread.

Hey good to know. So check the coolant for oil? The one I want to look at has had new cooling system parts. I understand the 5 speed swap is involved but I dont think its really that much more than a 24v swap on an e30. Pedal box, hard lines and cylinders, flywheel and clutch, trans, drive shaft, diff. You would end up doing most of that on a 24v swap besides the pedal box, and there is way less wiring involved in the e34, and no fabrication to make anything fit.just be ready to do a HG on the m50. for some reason every single 525iT has had "cooling system refresh", which is just a misdiagnosed HG issue. just putting it out there. also a 5spd conversion is a pretty major job on e34 24v cars. more involved than a 24v drive train swap on an e30.
I just really like the tourings.
Im interested but I dont think I have the funds for that plus the trip. I bet he wants at least $4,500 which is my absolute limit with nothing left over for repairs, registration/smog in CA, or the traveling.
That would be a super fun road trip though.sigpic

New cooling system, just like I said. In my experience there was no oil in coolant, it was just eating coolant and filling cooling system with air. Steam from exhaust when at operating temp, and top coolant hose super tite and expanded. I suppose if you have a coolant system pressure tester that would be the best way to know.IG: @Baye30

I bought a CO2 test kit so I can test for CO2 at the radiator. Ill check for smoke as well. If it has a head gasket problem maybe I can talk them down a lot.New cooling system, just like I said. Sadly my 22re took a shit today as well. I think I broke a rocker or something so now I am with out a car. Had to rent a dam Dodge for our family vacation.

thought of doing the same for the wheel I was just worried about the steering column not working properly, any chace of you fabing one up for a fellow R3ver?

Are you talking about the the horn button or the column spacer?
The horn button is for a golf cart and is available on Amazon.com. Easy instal using stock horn wiring.
The column spacer is only tricky because there are two bolts at the bottom of the column that dont have real heads on them. You will have to ether cut a slot in them and turn them out with a impact driver, or drill the heads off and than turn the shafts out by hand which is the way I did it. The spacer is easy. All you need to do is cut a piece of square tubing to length with a hack saw, band saw, or saws all, and then drill two holes in it with a hand drill. Square tube can be had at Home Depot for about $12. You can use the bracket from the original column mount as a template for the holes.
Id make you one, but if you cant get the column unbolted by your self there is not much of a point.sigpic

Well funny enough this thread is getting a little bump. They guy I sold this car to keeps me updated on whats happening to it which is very nice of him and kind of fun.
So he is putting a S2000 motor in it. In my mind its like the pore mans s14, cheaper and makes more power. Bad assery abounds
Apparently the company that makes Planted seat brackets is doing the work in their shop.

Its nice to sell a car to a guy who takes it further down the path you set it on, and enjoys the car as much as you did. Unlike my last 2002 project I was forced to sell which has been neglected and rusting for 4 years now. :(sigpic
