I would assume shifter placement and they didn't want to create a linkage to move it. -
How is WA? I assume home buying is way easier than the bay area. I will be checking in on this thread for a new bmw soon :)

Maybe they had issues with shifter placement? ^
Although I remember seeing a Honda swapped e30 at Catuned and it was farther back.Leave a comment:

Not much. Iv been out of the BMW game for a bit. Just been working a lot and doing some things with my truck. I moved up to WA recently, so most of my time/money has been going into getting us established up here. Trying to figure out how to get a small house for us first time home buyers.
How ever, I am expecting to get into another BMW soon. But it wont be a fun small one. A bit larger.
Wow that thing is WAY up there. Holly cow. I just talked to the owner last night, and he said hes having some electrical issues with the swap.
Planted brackets are the best though.Leave a comment:

I know them, I got my seat bracket from them!
I would think they shouldve moved the motor further back, no?

Funny to see my old e30 track car done up like this.

Well funny enough this thread is getting a little bump. They guy I sold this car to keeps me updated on whats happening to it which is very nice of him and kind of fun.
So he is putting a S2000 motor in it. In my mind its like the pore mans s14, cheaper and makes more power. Bad assery abounds
Apparently the company that makes Planted seat brackets is doing the work in their shop.

Its nice to sell a car to a guy who takes it further down the path you set it on, and enjoys the car as much as you did. Unlike my last 2002 project I was forced to sell which has been neglected and rusting for 4 years now. :(Leave a comment:

Are you talking about the the horn button or the column spacer?
The horn button is for a golf cart and is available on Amazon.com. Easy instal using stock horn wiring.
The column spacer is only tricky because there are two bolts at the bottom of the column that dont have real heads on them. You will have to ether cut a slot in them and turn them out with a impact driver, or drill the heads off and than turn the shafts out by hand which is the way I did it. The spacer is easy. All you need to do is cut a piece of square tubing to length with a hack saw, band saw, or saws all, and then drill two holes in it with a hand drill. Square tube can be had at Home Depot for about $12. You can use the bracket from the original column mount as a template for the holes.
Id make you one, but if you cant get the column unbolted by your self there is not much of a point.Leave a comment:

I bought a CO2 test kit so I can test for CO2 at the radiator. Ill check for smoke as well. If it has a head gasket problem maybe I can talk them down a lot.New cooling system, just like I said. In my experience there was no oil in coolant, it was just eating coolant and filling cooling system with air. Steam from exhaust when at operating temp, and top coolant hose super tite and expanded. I suppose if you have a coolant system pressure tester that would be the best way to know.
Sadly my 22re took a shit today as well. I think I broke a rocker or something so now I am with out a car. Had to rent a dam Dodge for our family vacation.
