While I'm waiting for motor parts I'm gonna fab up a new fire wall and floor well for the pass side. while wire wheelig last night I uncovered this. Someone please explain how you even do this to a car....
If you cant see that is a crack in my chassis going from the battery tray into the tranny well.

That sucks it has a crack. Knowing you it will be addressed quickly. Thumps up for doing body work yourself.
On my Alpina clone Im waiting on some m30 parts to come in. Then I can install the m30 in my car.Projects Hartge,Alpina & AC Schnitzer Builds.http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=280601

Looks like someone hit a big-ass pot hole. Weld it up from both sides. Also, just in case you don't get good penetration on the weld, drill a hole at the end of the crack to prevent it from traveling further before welding.sigpic

Got the biggest area of rust patched today. Tomorrow will be grinding down the welds, patchin holes in the welds and making the last patch for under the battery tray, Then I'll weld the the crack in the chassis put my sub frame reinforcements on and start getting ready to drop the motor hope to have it in the car Wednesday night Thursday at the latest.
Also don't hate on the patch work haha. Tired of patching rust so I'm just fitting it together like a puzzle and any pieces that over lap are just gonna get welded from both sides. Plus its on the floor pan which will be covered by my aluminum floor pans so yea I don't really car as long as its not rust.Last edited by ThatOneEuroE30; 07-06-2014, 10:59 AM.

got the last patches of rust fixed!!!! YAYYYYYY NO MORE RUST EVER!!!!! Do however need to go over a some welds and finish welding a couple things like the rocker panel. Once thats all done Im gonna finish undercoating so I can be done with that then I'll finish dropping the motor in and start sanding and prepping the body for the bondo and primer. I decided that I'm gonna save the suspension for after the swap is done cause I still have like 1500 dollars in suspension parts to buy.
