Still working on the firewall/windshield area, but I should have it wrapped up and ready to install the new windshield in the next week.

        Cardboard mock-ups

        Copy to metal

I've been welding these to the body and grinding the excess a couple times while I still learning to weld, so it's been a little more work than I anticipated.

I took a break from that to install the engine, transmission, alternator, and steering coupler poly urethane mounts from Ireland Engineering.

While I had everything apart, I decided to do some engine bay cleaning since it looked like this:

I even found a rodent bachelor pad behind the fuse box:

I'm happy with how it all came out, it runs much smoother too with the new mounts.

Bullshit, it vibrates the whole car at idle. I went down that road a long time ago, they stayed on the car about 2 weeks.

Smoother was relative to the shaking I was experiencing with the worn out mounts that were replaced. I haven't driven it more than a few feet since replacing the mounts, maybe I'll change my decision as well.

2002 engine mounts are very soft and the geometry allows a lot of movement even when they are new. The poly mounts fix that but the trade off regarding vibration in a street car is a big one.

                    hahahaha ....

It's the most pliable of any urethane option but def. not for everyone.

Willy, love your pictures. Next time I visit family in Boise it would be neat to see the car.

I'll see how it pans out with the urethane.

I'm planning to attend The Motorsport Reunion in Monterey this August with this car, maybe I'll see you down there with your 02. But also feel free to message me when you're in town.

I did stuff, here's the old brake lines. I forgot to get a picture of the new ones:

Then I got some dual Weber 40s, before:

                        Apart:

                        One cleaned one before:

                        Then I removed the AC:

                        All cleaned up and removed:

Cardboard reinstalled, don't worry about all that rust you saw:

                        New carpet installed:

The new carpet really transformed the car:

                        Changed the headlights to H4s:

Replaced the csb, the old one was a little used:

Loaded up for the trip to the salt flats and Monterrey car week:

A few pictures on the salt:

Then I blew a head gasket from overheating the engine:

But I didn't have time to change it, so I ordered a new one on Amazon and had it shipped to the place I was staying so I could swap it in time for the Legends of the Autobahn in Monterrey:

Turns out it wasn't the head gasket that I blew, it was the head that warped, so I over torque the head bolts with a new gasket:

Some how it managed to fix the problem, and I got it to Legends:

Then I found this amazing shop at Laguna Seca:

And bought some shiny trumpets for the webers I was planning to throw on, but decided warped my head instead:
