I really thought that I had uploaded some other pictures from yesterday but this one will have to do for now.
Picked up 2 crappy front seats, both with bad soft parts but 100% functional mechanicals. The backs of my seats have twisted and the cables that fold the driver's seat have failed but the soft parts are beautiful so I wanted to get some good frames and swap my soft parts over.
I got these locally (for free) and am in the process of buying the rest of the parts car- a late 318ic that is rusting out and thus has been robbed of the drivetrain and wiring. Most of what I can use- doors, fenders, seatbelts, windows/regulators, interior panels, etc.- are all still there. It has a complete F/R subframe setup and strut tubes but pulling those is a PITA when it comes time to dispose of the rest of the chassis.
So I got the recovered 3-spoke Sport wheel that I ordered. The seller had poor communication and was slow to ship but it finally arrived. Unfortunately I am less than pleased.
Looks okay at a distance:
But this is not the "Super nice and tight job" promised:
Nor does this seem to reflect "never used it so it's still fresh" condition:
Wheel was packed properly so it did not occur in shipping.
On an unrelated note, I am posting this here so I have the measurement requirements for my replacement centercaps for the Drag DR-20 wheels:
More parts arrived. First up is a rear seat headrest kit. Was supposed to match my current leather but I don't think that it really matches, based on a quick assessment. Since the car is at the paint shop I can't compare but I am not holding my breath.
Since I want to get all of the headrests re-covered in houndstooth it isn't a big deal bu tin the event that I can't have them re-covered it sort of blows, since I paid more than I wanted to, thinking that they would match.
Condition isn't all that great, even if they do match.
Next up, another cupholder option. For $20 shipped it isn't bad but once again, I think that it is slightly off. I can't test-fit but the angle looks off to rest properly on the console.
I can re-bend it but it is frustrating to have to do that.
Now for the more fun part- more wheels and tires arrived. These are the dirt-cheap Kumho A/S tires that I got from Discount Tire Direct.
The wheels actually look WAY better than I thought that they would. I really like them, particularly for winter wheels.
The center caps are a bit excessive but I can get some universal flat 70mm caps and add stick-on roundels if I really want to. The capless look is not for me but it gives an idea of how they might look without the 1.5" tall caps.
I really like the look of the leather wrapped sport wheel! I think that's what I'm going with. Unless of course I happen to come across an affordable Nardi Woodline (affordable woodline, hahahahaha!).
That was actually a stock wheel, not a re-wrap. But after re-installing the 3-spoke I did send payment for a re-wrapped 3-spoke with tri-color stitching.

Car went back to paint yesterday for the punch list. Hopefully soon I can FINALLY get all of the trim installed.
I put her back on basketweaves and A/S tires, just in case overspray manages to get on things.
I am not sure whether I am impressed, horrified, or both that my 8 year old daughter knows the correct tools and order of operations to swap wheels. She remembers jack safety and constantly reminds me, and she insisted on using the impact wrench and starting the lug nuts during re-install. The only thing I had to do was to move the wheels and do the final torque with the torque wrench.
