Just don't have the time for a 2nd / project vehicle right now. It sucks for sure but such is life! I love the car and I love e30's. It is a blast for sure!

What I should have said is "no time for a project car" not "a 2nd project car." This is my only project and time/money is going to keep me from getting the car up to my level of standard. I'm about $4-5k short of that and I just can't justify that money right now :(

What factors into that $4-5K list of needs?

BTW, is that leak finally sorted? I saw that you plugged all the holes to keep the water from moving forward in the cabin.

Great car! I saw it in person and was very impressed.

4-5k includes some body work and new paint job (I detail on the side so imperfect paint drives me crazy, even though the paint on this car is in excellent overall condition), some new heat shielding (just because), a new cat back (just because), SSK, trans output seal install, potentially new driveshaft (just because), thats about it.

As it sits, this car will run for many years to come without incident and not requiring anything beyond usual maintenance. It NEEDS nothing besides the new output shaft seal if you are anal like me and hate leaks.

And yes, the water leak is all sorted! It can sit through a torrential downpour and I am confident that no water would make it into the trunk or cabin. I would not have installed the interior and carpet if I thought otherwise.

Well fellow r3vs, I am happy to say that I have decided to keep the e30. I spoke with a few friends and fellow forum member, Cory, and realized that my best option is to keep the e30 and enjoy it. I may reevaluate in a year or so, but for now I am just excited to be driving and enjoying it. It really is too nice to be selling and I will not get what it's worth if I sell it right now anyways.

I am going to get back on the horse and tackle a few things before summer is here, including:

                  -valve adjustment
                  -z3 ssk
                  -driveshaft
                  -rear diff service
                  -heat shielding
                  -fuel lines and hose

Tonight I vacuumed the cockpit, buttoned up the trunk, added the spare and jack and took it to the coin op for a rinse. I also "installed" my new sound system ............(Bluetooth Jam XT... lol),

I am feeling very good about the car!

Sitting pretty at work today. Took some friends out for lunch and they were digging it.

Awesome! Your interior makes me want to tear my seats out and redo the carpet. Although mine came with quite a few wear-holes so I'd probably need to buy new. And new floor mats. I get the feeling it's pretty expensive though.

At Metro State University graduation today for my sister in law and decided to take a few pics atop the parking garage. Too bad the car is dirty!

I had my good friend Mook from surf city garage complete a full paint correction on the e30 today. It turned out amazing, but along the way he measured paint thickness and found some very thin areas. It looks as though this was a cheap/quick acrylic clear coat job. He warned me of the thin spots but I told him to proceed anyways. He was right, and a few spots got a little close for comfort, but the outcome was stellar. At this point, the paint is as close to perfect as we can get it without burning through the clear coat.

The results were amazing but the complete paint job starts this week. I will be doing all of the prep work and having it sprayed (possibly with Schwartz metallic) and a 15 year DuPont clear. Many pics of that process to come.

In the meantime, here are the results from today. I will let Mook chime in with the exact process and products used (and better pictures, I am sure) :)

                              Wife spraying it off beforehand
