awhile ago i picked up a 318i for pretty cheap because i sold my pride and joy e21 and needed something to get around in, i found a alpine sedan with a huge list of problems for $400 on craigslist.
i got it home and though a lot of work its now my wife's daily driver
this a before and after

i had a blast geting the e30 back on the road and wanted to try my hand at another.

i got this guy from this site from Austin! for $500. this one is a cosmo blue 85 318i 4door, blue cloth interior. saving it from ending up at the crusher.
the known problems at the time where
-blown steering rack
-blown motor mounts
-JB welded oil pan
-blue interior
-faded paint on roof hood and trunk lid
-dent on rear wheel arch and hood
-windows didnt work
-idle control valve was snapped in half
-weird drive train sound
-blah blah blah. bitch was a project.
First i washed the skank and took a tooth brush to all the crack and seals to pull off all the old moss off it.

then we lifted the engine and replaced the mounts, and while under the car i found that the racks issuse was that the bushing on the linkage snapped. i replaced them and steering is back

at the yard i picked up a new set of kidneys, an oil pan, idle control valve, Yakima roof rack and other small interior parts like a wood shift knob.

was really tired of the blue interior so i stopped buy Austins shop with a pocket full of cash and picked up a rear tan ski pass seat, front seats, door cards, shift boot, carpet, and mtech1 wheel.

also though the site i got a euro cluster and analog clock.

more to come
