Any chance you could grab some lighted pictures under the car of the turbo and manifold. Also maybe some dimensions of the turbo, like how far down it sits from the exhaust ports and how long it is. I'm starting to look into doing a M30 turbo more and more and I'm worried about clearance issues.

I'm going to have my dad fight his dad.

Kieth has an option to use the stock 3 switched tps, but with my experience it wasn't that great in the Accel enrichment department (basically on throttle response). This could also be because I had the WOT wire in my tps snipped and didn't realize it till I got a variable TPS.
You should get a variable TPS because it's going to make your drive-ability worlds better. All of the 24v E36 ones are the same part number iirc - mine is new from an M50. I've seen/read people use them from other makes and models, but whatever.. they all function the same.

Yes! The IAT connection is really simple from what I remember. You hook like two wires in two of the 5 wire ports the AFM had. Google will point you in the right direction fast.

T'ing the line off the Boost gauge is probably the next best thing after having a dedicated line since the gauge is nothing but a plugged line with sensor.

That's how mine is. Just make sure you absolutely secure that line with no kinks and away from heat because if it breaks/gets hard and/or comes off, the car will run like absolute crap and not stay on. You don't want to get stranded because you can't get behind your cluster without the tools you need and such lol.

    Now children, behave... :)

Anyway I wasn't aware that I needed a variable TPS in order to run Megasquirt. This is new news to me. Do I need an e36 variable TPS to run Megasquirt? Or is there come way around this? I'm a bit confused by the conversation.

I do remember clipping my WOT wire for the Miler stuff, so that will have to be reconnected. Also I didn't realize the IAT sensor got connected to the AFM plug, I was anticipating having to run a wire to the ECU. This makes it simpler, which I'm all about

As far as the MAP sensor, I already have a 1/8" vacuum line running to my Econoboost gauge. Would tee'ing off that line behind the instrument cluster and running it to the ECU provide an accurate signal? Or should I be looking at running a dedicated vacuum line?

I think there is miscommunication somewhere. I mentioned the calibration bit because he isn't going to be able to do so if he snipped his WOT wire that needed to be done when installing miller stuff. Just giving a helpful reminder.

While you guys are on about throttle sensors I got one off an m30 which has both variable and standard closed/WOT options.

The automatic e36 tps will bolt right up to the m30 throttle body.

Yeah. The MAP sensor comes with Megasquirt and is already built into the ECU.
All you have to do is run a vacuum line to the sensor's nipple that sticks out of the ECU itself and you're done.

The IAT is the one that gets threaded into your charge-piping with two wires that are going to be connected to your old AFM wiring somehow (I forget what, but Keith will tell you).

Remember to reconnect your WOT wire in your TPS if you had it snipped in order to install Miller's rubbish (Had to on the M20). I totally forgot to do that when I switched to MS and had all sorts of trouble calibrating my TPS and garbage throttle response till I remembered and did so.
