Well it is definitely optimal for how to get off your ass and fab a bunch of badass shit. That's for sure. His intercooler isn't even held on with zip ties...

Ah, I get it - that's just the cooling radiator and reservoir at the back, the actual intercooler is up front. Thanks.

Why I chose it was that I didn't want that typical 10inch thick cell pack in front of the car, which makes the cooling effect very low. Now it's only engine radiator + oilcooler front mounted which will have a good amount of fresh air.
Secondly I try to compensate M30 + components' weight by transferring parts towards rear end.
The whole setup without fluid weighs the same as comparable air-to-air cooler. If the weight seems to be a problem, I can just fill the water reservoir to minimum ;D

Pandaboo911: I guess we have a different theory about building a grip car

Well with all that weight at least it'll be a great drift car :D

Definitely not optimal for grip racing

    Noobie tech question -

Is the weight of all that water sloshing around in the back worth it, plus pumps and plumbing, compared to an air-to-air intercooler?

Also, what kind of lag are we talking about with the intercooler all the way at the back?

    Hope not! :D

More aluminium... Intercooler water tank, capacity about 10-15liters, 3-4gallons? Bosch water pump will be located right next to water tank, it pushes water to intercooler then through the radiator back to the tank. Tank still needs divider inside and couple of fittings:

    Okay then, here's some more...

There was an empty space in rear corner which was an obvious place for the fuel surge tank:
