After about 30 hours of working on this car this past weekend, it is almost finished. I installed the exhaust manifold stud kit, spark plugs, control arm bushings, tie rod ends, radiator, hoses, fuel lines, plugged up the wiring, intake manifold, headers, differential, Driveshaft, guibo, csb, fluids, bleed brakes and clutch, axles, and some other small pieces to get every ready.

I ended up starting it without the cooling system to be sure it ran. It started very easily and sounded awesome. I just have a few more bits to get and have the exhaust made and I'll be finished with the swap.

Still not many pictures because the all look the same since the car doesn't move.

So I pretty much suck at taking pictures while working on my car. I told myself I'd document everything and then when I'm under the car, hands dirty, rushing to get things finished, I no longer want to take time for pictures.

I've gotten the s50 mounted up with the condor motor mounts. Porsche 944 brake booster is installed and e36 m3 steering rack is in. We had to remake the rear brake hardlines that bolt to the T-junction. I had the whole rear subframe out for new trailing arm and subframe bushings. Installed the stainless steel brake lines and new sway bar bushings. Also went with the condor ssk package which includes the z3 1.9 shifter.

Still need to put the diff back in but found a leak in the brake lines we made. Also bought the bimmerworld track control arms so the header will clear. My friend is making my exhaust for me with a vibrant muffler and spun cat. I just need to plug up everything in the wiring harness, put the intake manifold on, and hope it runs well before finishing it up.

Nice project! The early photos of your car remind me of my first e30. What's the paint code? BMW's light blue colors all look similar to me. Mine was balticblau.

I finally started with the motor swap. I spent Friday-monday removing the old m20 out of my car, removing the s50 out of the other car, and prepping everything for the swap itself. I need to buy a lot more parts but I made a lot of progress this weekend.

Finally found a motor. My buddy got an extremely good deal on an e36 with an s50 in it. Also had quite a bit of other goodies on it. I told him I'll buy the motor if he ended up getting the car. Motor runs good and strong, 70k miles, chipped, and intake. This project should really take off now.

Just be careful with the fronts with a 9" wheel. You'll need a lower offset so it doesn't hit the strut. Ask mystikal about fitment in the wheel and tire section.

Here's some pics. I think k they'll fit pretty easily in the front with a fender roll. So much room.

I think I could fit a 10mm spacer in the rear and probably another 5 mm spacer in the front if you put the 9" wheel up front.

Sure, I can do that when I get home today. I wish I also got the 16x9 for the fronts as well and then space out the rear a touch. I got the fenders rolled before I did anything to it. I can't say for sure that it was absolutely needed because there is quite a bit of space between the fender and tire, but I don't want to confirm that it'll be fine. It looks good if you aren't going for super aggressive wide wheels and definitely grabs attention.

I did a lot of shopping trying to decide on tire sizes and decided a 215/45 to be the best option for these sizes. I didn't want to put a 205 on the rear but no tire model had a 205 and a 215 in the same tire.

Edit to include wheel specs: 16x8 +20, 16x9 +15; 215/45/16 Kumho Ecsta XS
