I've honest to god have left maybe 10 notes since the beginning of this year. 4x e30 M3's, 3x 2002's, couple e30 convertibles.. The only people who have called would be the 2002 guys. I passed on the one that was potentially for sale, an automatic 2002 that needed paint and mechanical didn't seem like a wise purchase in the end. The other two weren't for sale, but at least they called back. I've never gotten a call back from a note besides those three 2002's,

The M3's, I chased those like a dog chases a tennis ball, "nope not for sale". Bugged the heck out of those people knocking on there doors. They didn't call me back, was worth a try! One day though..

That's a beautiful example you found there though! Honestly, everything on Craigslist I see is crap these days, that looks like it was a nicely maintained car, glad to see it went to good hands.

The spare cover is from my cabrio and im replacing the cover gasket so may go either way. I've ordered seals and the O ring which have identical PNs for the Z3 and e30.

I've read about special fluids for the torsen but turns out it's good ole 75-90 GL5 synthetic without friction modifiers so I have some LiquiMoly on the way.

Have to get a 14mm Allen to remove the plugs too on the Z cover

    This should be fun

Note: the reason I am only do the bearing on the one side is that the PS half shaft is brand new so I will cautiously work around the half shaft attached to the TA/hub on that side. Not a big deal as long as one is careful not to stress the CV joints.

I've verified through the VIN and PN that it is a torsen. The seller had the tidiest used parts store I've ever seen with everything in racks or on shelves. The car had 90k.

I knew the case would be the same as our but I expected a different rear cover however they too are the same so this is going to be a fairly easy swap

I was hoping this would be the beginning of my 731 head upgrade but having found a torn axle boot while doing the rear springs, the subframe has moved to the top of the list.

I've got new lemforder subframe and TA bushings, new OE boots & FAG bearing for the drivers side, 4 new brake lines and this....

Excited to see what it does

I did not.. things have been pretty slow E30 wise this summer due to family obligations. Will try again next year though.

Thanks brad. I don't see a swap in her future. Aside from just not being that motivated, she is an "e" and not MY daily. If I get restless I'll buy a Maranello....or at least start saving for one ;)

I'm about ready to do the suspension and e36 rack and the one thing I dread is the HF screw type spring compressor so I stepped up.....

I'm sure im not alone in saying that a big part of the pleasure we get from our cars besides actually driving them and working on them, is sourcing bits and pieces. Not only do I enjoy fondling miscellaneous widgets but it's really quite amazing when you think about how many of them are still available for a 30 yo car

We swapped out the front speakers with a pair of CDT coaxes that I had bought for the rear of the cabrio only they didn't fit. These are the rears which have now been replaced, for obvious reasons, with a pair of stock speakers.

We did a little radio action the other day.mthe factory cassette took the code but had no output. This is where we started

Which turned in to this. Sorting the wiring wa actually very easy. Absent premium sound, it's a 2 channel setup with both speakers on one side sharing a common ground, hence only 6 wires. I used a 9v battery to isolate the rear pairs then ran a new ground to each front speaker. Done and done

    Which then became this
