Decided on keeping the E30.

Registered her and bought a 325es decklid and then filled her up.

i suppose thats a good way to go about it. if you dont end up getting rid of it, make sure you get a quality car cover. some of the cheaper ones like to disintegrate over winter. (ask me how i know) and epecially dont use a tarp and bungee cords because RIP to your paint finish if you do

keep the vert, put a car cover over it, get a cheap winter beater. problem solved? i have a toyota pickup and ive had it since 2011, well before i got my e30 vert, and the truck remains my inclement weather vehicle. i never understood why somebody would get a convertible as their sole mode of transportation, but i always like having a backup so that might just be me.

I would get a second car , but I currently don't have enough money to buy a second car. if it doesnt get traded by this November than i'll throw a good cover over her and let her sit out the winter .

My advice would be to put your car at a reasonable market level and you'd sell it or trade it.

So upon heading back to Boise from Bay Area for work ,
I decided to visit the CATUNED shop .

I got to meet Igor who is a super cool guy and he let me snap some pics.
There work is exceptional and these guys can really build anything .

Sedan or coupe?

I want a 5MT 6-cylinder e36 sedan just as a track toy. And to drive when I don't feel like driving the WRX and it is too cold for the e30 convertible. And just because.

The volume of 5x120 wheel options alone makes me drool.

I'm really stoked to own one because as you mentioned , there is quite a volume 5x120 wheels.

Thanks for the advice ! I've decided to go on with the trade and hopefully if everything goes according to plan I'll be driving an E36 this Saturday .

My e30 only has a Open 4.10 , so a 3.15 LSD would be a nice change.

I want a 5MT 6-cylinder e36 sedan just as a track toy. And to drive when I don't feel like driving the WRX and it is too cold for the e30 convertible. And just because.

The volume of 5x120 wheel options alone makes me drool.

I don't find it to be heresy. I have owned both and while I love my 89 convertible my next BMW will probably be an e36 sedan for HPDE use. If I only had 1 car (I have 4) and needed it to pull year-round duty I'd say that an E36 (coupe or sedan) is more useful, overall. You mentioned slopes, so I assume that you ski or snowboard. I cannot imagine my e30 on the roads to go snowboarding, nor would I have any idea where I would put my gear. An e36 with a roof rack would be more useful- and safer. I can't recall if your e30 has an LSD but the e36 does- a nice, rare(-ish) trait in an e36.

If you keep the e30 then snow tires would be a must-have, and you MIGHT be able to rig something up to carry gear off the trunk.

I have a WRX hatchback as my winter daily and even with a rack on the roof it is tight to carry boards for my kids and I and still have all of our gear inside. I could carry their stuff in my e30 but I don't know where I'd carry my board- and I ride a short 151.

I was offered a trade for a Boston green E36 325i with some Dinan parts , coilovers , LSD .
Coolant system overhaul recently , car is well taken care of
If I Trade him I will end up dailying it and start saving money up for another E30.
