What is your target with this head?
Having gotten it for free doesn't help much, you'll be spending $$$$$ if it'll be properly rebuilt. And more if you're going to make more power with it.

    Cheers, Jarno

Expect suggestions that you should turbo it/swap an M42/M50/LS X or what ever. It's beyond most people that an M10 weighs next to nothing, and responds well to performance mods (in relation to it's physical size). Also those have the complexity and durability of a crowbar.

    ..Loosen the eccentrics.
On the rocker shafts there are locking rings that hold the rockers in place. Take them out. Mark carefully the position of the rockers if you're not replacing them and/or the cam.

You'll need a valve spring compressor to release the valves. Make sure you know which valve is which, mark them.

    M10 project

I just posted a thread under the m10 category, don't know how many people check it out so that's why I'm posting this here too. I picked up this 1.8l m10 head from my mechanic for free he had sitting. I finally got to it today and started to dismantle it and only got to removing the bolts for the rocker arms and that was about it. I don't know much on how to remove any of this that is the main reason for this posting. If anyone can help me out with some steps on dismantling this, that would be much appreciated. I currently have an 88 e30 and wanted to pick something up for a project, this head was perfect for that specially since I got the whole thing for free. I want to rebuild this engine, obviously need a complete bottom end and everything else but everyone starts somewhere, Any help or anyone who has parts for sale, let me know! I am obviously new to the m10 scene but I love my r3v community and know there are some good people out there who are a big help. Thank you!
