While searching around on the internet I was looking for my first car. I knew I wanted something that was very clean and reliable as it would be my daily driver from school to work. I began looking around and I remember this kid at my high school who had a white Datsun 510. When I always saw his car I loved the boxy 2 door style and the round headlights. I research into some 80s cars and came across the Bmw e30. The moment I saw this car on the internet I knew this was going to be my first car. I began working local jobs around my area and in 2 years I saved up enough money to finally purchase my first car. Everyday I would look on craigslist and see if anyone was posting E30s in my area. I came across several that were in my area and decided to go test drive them. When I drove all of the cars there was something that didn't feel right about them. They felt like someone had beaten the car or used it as a drift car and was trying to sell it before it blew up. I then saw this clean Cirrusblau E30 located in Tucson, Arizona. My dad and I decided to take a trip out to Tucson and look at the car to see what it was all about. When we got to the gas station were we where meeting the kid at, he pulled up in the car and i was surprised. The car was exactly what it was in the description on craigslist. My dad and I took a second to discuss about the car and I knew this was the car. We ended up buying the car July 2015 here are some photos when we took the trip out to Tucson.
The ugly steering wheel cover & seat covers
The next day on Monday he drove the car from Tucson to my house in Phoenix. That night he rolled up in the car with his friends little Toyota Camry following him. We exchanged all of our contact info and shook hands and he left. For the next month or so the car sat in the garage while I looked at it every morning when I left to get on the bus. (I Still didn't have my license). I had many plans for my car and what I wanted to do to it. I finally got my license using my car for the test and passed first time! I gave to car its first wash and went out to go get some glamor shots:
I wanted to start my first upgrade but all my options were to expensive at the time. I wanted my car to be louder and sound better at a cheap cost. (I then did what any 16 year old kid would do) I took my car down to an exhaust shop and did an exhaust delete. We cut off the exhaust and welded pipes and put black tips to end it off. My car sounded cool going down the road but was annoying to drive on the freeway. I kinda regretting do this decision but going was going to buy a REAL exhaust in the future.
1 month later, I saved up enough money to buy a set of new wheels. I was searching on the web and came across some BBS weave style wheels and thought they would look good on my car. I purchased some 16's for the E30 going from the stock 14 and thought they would look killer! A week later the wheels came to my front door step and unboxed them. They didn't look to bad and couldn't wait to mount them. That weekend we drove down to Discount tire to have them installed and balanced.
No Wheels
Drove the car home and was really happy about my purchase on these wheels (a little photoshop to see how wheels would look with my car lowered)
Winter Break rolled around and followed by Christmas and had some time off from school to think about my next upgrade. I had many questions for my next upgrade. Should I get Ground controls? Should I get some body parts? should I get a skid plate? With all these questions and little money school started back up into the new year 2016. The first day back from winter break Arizona received a crazy rain storm that night. I was super excited to show my friends my new wheels on my car and talk about what I was going to upgrade next. My friends 2007 335i was in the shop for fuel injectors and he needed a ride home that day. While we were leaving the schools parking lot and on our way to his house something bad went happened around the corner... I gave my car to much throttle on the wet road and went into a left hand drift. I didn't know what was going on when I made the turn on the slippery wet road. I then tried to counter steer but ended up being spun around backwards and slid into a small black fence with rocks on the other side. When I got out of my car to see what the damage was I was in shock.
I sat there and called my parents to tell them what happened about the situation and they were mad. I felt really stupid about what I just did to my clean car. I began to look around the car and see the damage up close. i saw a small crack in the oil pan and put my finger on it. when I did that oil gushed everywhere on the street and I was upset. A friend of mine drove by and saw what happened to my car and asked if I needed a tow home. we hooked up a strap to my tow hook and pulled me home. We then got the car home and talked about what we should do. We decided to fix the car in our garage. what I didn't know was there was more than just an oil pan. I went into the garage and the tear down began:
Here are some pictures from the tear down/build:
Old oil pan vs New pan
New Pan installed
First test drive with everything installed
With all the new parts installed I found a valance from a local junkyard that was in pristine condition all it needed was paint. I painted it flat black and threw it on my car. Everything was back together now and I was feeling pretty happy about it.
I recently installed a black window banner.
I have many plans for the future of this car. I have been looking around at some E30s and personally love Kamotors E30. Im looking to fit the black Str518 he was running on his car awhile back. Also, the Kamotors fender flares are a must when running those 17s. I will be Updating this thread from time to time so check it out whenever.
