    Project Pandi Daily Driver

After another 3 years of living abroad, I'm back in the states again. Met a girl from Humboldt County, CA and we decided to move back here for a little while to be close to family (i have some in the bay area, a 5 hour drive away)

Lucked out and got a nice job with the local German Auto repair shop and after a few weeks of looking, found my future daily. Meet Pandi

She broke a rocker two years ago and its been parked under some trees ever since. Over 300k on her but so well take care of that after a few weeks of work, it should turn out pretty decent. Its a 1989 325i, automatic with vinyl comfort interior.

However, when I say a few weeks of work, I'm understating the job. Those two years sitting in the moist, damp environment left the entire interior covered in mold. Luckily my immune system has been up to the task and allowed me to gut the car and get to the deep cleaning.

Mechanically, while it had been serviced regularly, most wear items will need to be replaced. I had initially planned on swapping out the broken rocker and drive it as is until id accumulated enough parts for the overhaul, but when I snapped another rocker while removing the rocker shaft, I lost trust in what was left and decided my best bet would be to source a new shortblock and toss that in along with a 5-speed swap.

Surprisingly, Ive never owned a turbo car, so long term plans would be to get some boost in my life.

Whats this you ask? An amateur attempt at repairing a cracked seat base.

Luckily, Sacramento is not too far away and after a great visit with Igor at CATuned, I drove away with some much needed replacement parts.

Teardown, replace seat base frame and clean

They may not be sport seats but at least they're clean and not torn

What'd you use to dye the rear speaker deck? Looks good

Standard vinyl/fabric dye from the parts store. I think it was duplicolor

I wouldn't have considered it if there weren't a set sitting here next to my bay collecting dust. Plus, I've only seen a handful of others that have had them.

Next up, hvac box cleaning and sealing

I like how it came out. Did you use black and spray light coats, or is that actually a gray color?

It is indeed gray. I've used black before and is shows too much dust and dirt. Too much upkeep

Actually yes. I must've grabbed at least a grocery bags worth of pine needles out of every exterior nook and cranny
