Not too sure about the structure of the trunk. If you decide to cut it out, just use good welds and strong metal to fill it back in.

On the late cars the back end is brought down with the rear valance to closer to rocker/lip height. ON the early cars they kinda look like a cat in heat. That is all I was referring to. I wouldn't cut out the spare tire hole unless there was a REAL reason.:: PNW Crew ::

The spare tire well one of the major crush points at the rear of the E30, engineered to crumple inward before the rest of the rear of the car comes through the back seat, and if there's a spare tire IN it, it is intended to absorb impact from a rear-end collision. I would reccomend you leave it.Comment

I am chopping my spare tire well out and running the exhaust in the center, like old 6ers and making dropped sections in the trunk floor to locate amps.
Safety is for weenies!
I painted my reverse lights red, too.

Since my rear seats don't have seatbelts anymore and nobody sits in the back ever, I am going to cut the spare tire this weekend and make it into a shallow storage box or big enough for 1 4ch amplifier.
Bumpers will be painted soon along with new euro trim. Fog covers are in the mail, the brake ducts are on back order, should have them next week though.

I know he didn't have it shaved all along, but I think he removed it once he got obsessed with huge tires and brakes. I remember him justifying it by saying that his tires are so wide that they stick a few inches out of the spare tire well, so it is useless for him anyway...
I could be wrong though. Who knows.

Lol.. I just hate the lack of rear valance because the spare tire well is in such clear view.. I see two options, one is to get rid of the spare tire well since I have no use for it (like I said AAA takes care of that) and second option is to add a late rear valance which is a huge pita to do.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205
