    TOOK A CHANCE - 87' 325i VERT

I was browsing eBay for an old school car, something to drive on the weekends and my first manual car. Found this gem and I knew I had to have it. The reserve wasn't met but I msg'ed the seller on the side and worked out a deal below the reserve price.

I know it needs a lot of work and I prolly don't know what I have in store for me but I LOVE THIS CAR. Been a BMW guy most of my life and a German Car guy my entire life.

    1) 1995 MB E320 W124 - LOVED this car, got me through high school, college and a few years more (repairs cost more than car's worth so sold to mech)
    2) 2009 BMW 335i N54 - WHAT a BLAST! my first into to BMW and instantly fell in love, I mean who wouldn't with the N54. (had all the issues known to the N54 happen to me: HPFP failure, LPFP failure, serptine belt snapped, Wastegate rattle...traded in for my lease)
    3) 2015 BMW 328I N20 - My reliable DD lease, gets the job done, can't complain

    My new purchase:
1987 BMW 325i Vert Black on Black 5 spd

Anyone in the NYC 5 boroughs that wants to drop some knowledge on this mechanically inclined newb is more then welcomed to PM me! My plans for this car is to actually try and fix it myself.

    Pics attached, hope it works:

    #1 Welcome! Post some pics.

#2 When was the timing belt last done? This is the first place to start and a rite of passage into the E30 world. Handle this and you can do most of the other work yourself. Get the water pump and all the accessory belts done at the same time.

#3 Check all the bushings, Im guessing when you say it needs a lot of work, the bushings are included.

        1 - pics

2 - timing belt. The interval is 4 years/60k miles, whichever comes first. The m20 is an interference motor so snap a timing belt and you're in for a 24v swap

3 - don't go to the mechanic for anything, especially if you have a second car!
