Will be test fitting everything on the car soon. Got the brake kit assembled for test fitting, will need to torque everything down to spec etc but this was just to see how everything fits .
Any interest in having weight data on these vs. stock 325i brakes?

They don't even know where to put a M30 in an E30 engine bay, i would take their M/C bore recommendations with a grain of salt.Leave a comment:

The stock calipers are absolute junk, they have considerable flex, that definitely is part of the problem.Leave a comment:

5/8s what and is what’s recommended by garagstic when using wilwood box with stock e30 late model brakes / calipers . I really don’t want to swap masters again, it’s a huge pita in terms of serviceability .
I’ll give them a call and see what they say ! ThanksLeave a comment:

^I only bought 2 of the Tilton MCs and they were willing to help. Since your going to have to change MCs (your 5/8s are much too small anyway) you might as well for the support. Let them do the calculations then place the order. Gary over there said plenty of guys do the same once they find they don't know jack about Pascals law.Leave a comment:

Car has no abs to deal with , never did . Lee has been helpful, wilwood tech support was Pretty horrid to say the least (I won’t even mention summit racing , where I bought pedal box and masters form )
Not sure if Tilton will be willing to help since I don’t have their products , but I’ve been thinking about going with their floor mounted 3 pedal box .Leave a comment:

^It's all about the math. The manual pedal box should be part of the solution, especially if it gives you a ~6:1 pedal ratio, then you can get your masters in line. Don't just go out and buy calipers at this point....Though I do think if you size it for what the E36 M3 front and rear caliper piston area is, you might have a great starting point. Seriously though, call Tilton or AP racing. If you plan on using ABS, then AP Racing has the only MCs that will work with the mounting config of your Wilwood setup, at ~$300-$500 each. Otherwise be prepared to rebuild your MCs after hitting ABS, or even blow the seal.
I love the math, its about 56 decently complicated equations, even trying to calculate your car's CG. I got it terribly wrong. Again, Tilton help line to the rescue.Leave a comment:

Thanks dude! I can't stand the brake situation, I chatted with Lee many times and funny you just posted this stuff above :)
I just ordered his 300x32 race kit for the front, I have not ordered calipers yet as I want to do some math and figure our what I really need for the MC's that I already have in place. I am using dual 5/8s for the front/rear brakes, and there are at least 3 caliper piston size options for the 4piston calipers.
Next I'll need to order his rear kit as well, and I want to end up with solid perfoming brakes and never had to deal with this shit ever again. I've said this before and i'll say it again, if I only knew how shitty performance would be with the wilwood manual pedal box and stock e30 calipers I would have gone the route of remote brake booster (aka e32/e34).
Btw race kit clears these wheels w/o any spacers !Leave a comment:

To get my manual brakes sorted (with Massives offset dual MC mount) I called Gary at Tilton, which he had me fill out a form, which takes into account the tires you are running, weight and weight bias of the car and they can then get you sorted as to which MCs and Calipers you will need for a handful of choices of leg effort. DO NOT GUESS ANY THING, it must be measured.
Mine now feels proper with my manual brakes, still high effort but very controllable. Though I may step down from 85 lbs of effort, but it means longer pedal travel.
For example, for MY car (no one should follow this because my car is not stock anywhere in the brake system or weight), but Tilton gave me 4 ideas. I had thought I wanted 100 lbs of leg effort, I was very wrong. I will most likely change to #4 and use my 6.9 pedal ratio (Why does it say 7.1? Because I estimated....and therefore I have slightly higher than 85lb pedal effort)Last edited by R3Z3N; 03-22-2019, 03:29 PM.Leave a comment:
