I can't wait until we all run our E30s at the track. It's going to be stylish and uneventful all at the same time.

Yeah, new cars don't really excite me.

Hi guys, I decided to start a thread for my recently aquired 1989 325i coupe so that I can track the progess of it. Previous to this car, I've owned an '89 325i sedan (first car), '85 325e, '91 318i vert, and '92 325i vert (m-tech 2 and S52 swapped).

These pictures were right after I picked up the car. I purchased it from a customer who let it sit in their driveway for over 2 years. It's a 1989 325i coupe, 5 speed with a 3.73 LSD. The dash is cracked, interior dirty, seats were torn. 175k on the odometer:

I washed it that day and to be honest, it didn't look much better:

I started ordering and collecting parts here and there. I first started with an "IS" lip and new tires, and used seats:

I've always loved white cars with white wheels so I found some 16x7 Volk TE37s to acheive the look I wanted:

I figured it would be cool if my E46 and E30 had the same wheels:

I found a set of eibach lowering springs I had taken off a previous E30 so I figured I'd run them temporarily until I decide I deep I want to be in this car. I also sourced some clear corners for it. The turn signals are OEM, bumper molding is ebay crap. I also installed some color matched side mirrors:

Here is how it sits as of this morning:

Other items addressed in the almost 2 months of ownership: Inspection 2 service (including spark plugs and valve adjustment), R134 conversion, new pads and rotors all around, antenna mast replaced, exhaust hangers, and Alpine head unit installed.

I have an M tech 1 spoiler on the way. Fog light glass just arrived today. Unforturnately it has developed a coolant and oil leak externally from the head gasket so that's next to come off along with a new timing belt and water pump. It's also in need of rear subframe bushings. It's been a fun project as it reminds me of my very first car. I even found the same alpine head unit for sale used that I had in high school and installed it in this one. I still haven't decided what the end game is for this car. At the moment, the options are to fix everything and just sell it, make it a nice car and get the front end resprayed, or turn in into another track car. The only reason I consider selling it is I also picked up a techno violet 5 speed E36 sedan last week that will be my "dad car" and the E46 is my primary track car.

I'll update this thread as progress is made. Thanks for looking.
