1991 BMW 318i- 'Blair the Bimmer'

    Hello everybody,
It has been almost a month since the purchase of my 1991 BMW 318i. I decided to start this tread up to share the progress that I make with the car and the great times I share with it. I have enjoyed the limited time i have spent with the car (I attend school in Boston and the car is at home), and plan to start restoring her to her original beauty, as well as tastefully modifying the car for some modern spirited driving.

I decided this car was the right fit for me because of its relatively low miles (151,601), Minimal rust (tow hook/battery tray area and some surface bubbles), spotless interior, and the fact that it has never been tampered with. The car is all original including engine, paint, suspension, ect... Everything. The car is a little rough around the edges cosmetically (as it is over 25 years old now), but runs like a top. It is obvious that the previous owner cared for this car.

As of now I bought the car in Maine for 2500$ from its second owner, and went through the process of getting the car registered and driving it home. Since then I have Changed the oil (Mobil 1 15w-50), replaced the oil filter (BMW), and put on some new wiper blades (rainy ride home).

I have started gathering some parts and will update this tread as i move forward with the car. Here are some pictures of how she sits today:Click image for larger version

Welcome to the forum! Looks like you have nice original e30.

The m42 is a great engine. A chip will wake it up. Also consider doing the "mess under the intake" mod if you haven't read about it already.

Black interior looks great! Much better than the tan my 318i sedan came with.

Congrats, it looks like you already have a passenger side euro grill.

I did some work to the car this weekend so here is the update:
-Put on my 15 in ix basket weaves/yokohama avids with 17.5mm spacers (fitment is great)
-installed Alpine Bluetooth head unit with hands free calling
-Replaced the Airbag wheel with a MTech 1 wheel i picked up from john in oxford
-put on this cool little M badge shift knob emblem

This is all i could get done in the short time i was home from school. The car is in desperate need of a paint restoration so that will be next on the agenda. This, a thorough engine bay cleaning, and some other small things will be getting done as soon as it gets a little warmer

And to everybody that replied to my original post: thanks for the warm welcome to r3vlimited. I plan on taking any and all suggestions into consideration. Thank you for the ideas, and I plan on doing all of the above in the near future. I would also be interested in exploring the E30 community in New England and look forward to meeting some fellow BMW fans.
