    Layla the 88' 325iS Build thread. 24v

Starting a build thread for my 1988 BMW 325iS as stated nicknamed Layla

    She currently has a m52b28

    Current modifications

    M52

    S52 cams

    M50 intake

    ZF trans

    4.10Lsd

    H&R Lowering springs

    Act mesh wheels

    1in spacers around

    Skyline r32 rear spoiler

Also has a bunch more miscellaneous items or more I'm forgetting, used to daily drive her for two years on and off. Now I'm getting she is getting stripped and rebuilt/painted and much more. So this will be an I'm going build thread that I will add to when I am available. And I am also new to the forum so I will learn as I go as I upload and so on

But as of at the moment the car is in many pieces I will post previous shots, current shots and new ones when avail. And as said, the engine is currently on a stand awaiting parts. almost nothing left of the car at the moment, all bumpers, windows and fenders are stripped off getting repaired or replaced. The interior is completely stripped as I will be completely rewiring the whole car and relocating the fuse box inside of the car and removing any unneeded wiring from the original engine.

The car will be setup for shows, summer driving and some track time so I will be removing the HVAC system to redo the wiring and setup a toggle switch setup for the car with all new relays. The switch setup is far down my list for the moment so once I get closer to that point I will post more into that and detail.

Now for future plans of the car I am going turbo m52 with a Hx35 turbo, full respray is in the works but colour is still undecided. I am looking into air ride and much more as well.

But as stated this is my first post for this car so I will post more as I go, I will be posting more frequently to my IG profile if you'd like to follow there @Thatslammede30 if not enjoy the build, and if you have any pointers would love to hear them.

A couple photos of how it's going, still trying to figure how to post it all correctly as I'm on my mobile phone and no access to a Laptop at the time being
But a little Update the cars only pan was smashed last October, the full drive train was removed and stored. Up until now the car has been sitting with nothing being done. Up until now.

Over the last week as stated it was brought home in a trailer as shown and stripped. As of this moment all that's left in the car is the carpet, headliner, ABS system which will be removed. And all the wiring which is all coming out to be cut and redone. The inside of the shell will be repainted and cleaned up. Will post more progress as it goes.

        Some pictures from the past.
First photos are how the car looked when I bought the vehicle and progress till now

The car itself when I first bought it was in overall mechanically sound but was rough. The car was slid into a pole by the Previous owner of the car, and I repaired it best I could for the time being until now when I will be ordering new fenders and chopping it up to replace for the respray.

Couple years ago I took the car up camping where I should have just brought a truck in the first place, on the way back I ended up cracking the gas tank.

Gas tank was replaced with a new to me and pressure tested tank that was all cleaned up. As well as a new CSB

Interior itself is pretty clean, usual wear in the seats, crackless dash, all electrical worked.
Steering wheel was replaced with a deep dish 350mm NRG wood grain wheel.

Engine bay was not to bad of condition when I got the car but after time I cleaned it up and did what I could to it. I don't have any shots of it when I first bought it as they are on an old phone but I got more recent shots but nothing of what it will look like when finished or any quality shots of how it was sitting before removal

The cars hood was damaged when I first bought the car. My buddy had a parts e30 and we traded. I took to the grand idea of polishing the hood down to bare metal but at first I went to rough on the grit and caused to many scratches to make it a more mirror finish look I was going for so I painted it over a nice flat black for the time being till I resprayed, as well as painted the mirrors and rear spoiler.

Ended up having to move out of my previous place and needed to move all I could. Couldn't access a truck for a couple days so this was what I had setup for a trip or two

So today got back out and started ripping more apart of the car starting with the HVAC system then carpet.

Following was the rear glass and pop outs so I could remove the headliner and sunroof.

After a vacuum the inside started to look pretty good again.

Almost all the parts that were removed from the vehicle today, Including the couple extras I had sitting in the trunk. ei engine harness, headlights etc

Now that that's over with, as shown next is the rear tail panel it had been slightly pushed in when I got the car and was repaired as best as could at the time but during this build I'll be completely replacing that as well as both rear quarters so check back In for those .

The carpet itself came out in not so good of condition so it will be replaced, as well as the headliner will be redone and wrapped over by something more interesting when the time comes that also compliments the car.

I'll be cleaning out my shop the next day or so, so hopefully the next post will be indoors.

I'll also be removing the window trim next time I'm out here, and can post the link of how it's best done during then. But until then .

That R32 rear wing seems to fit fairly well, or is it a trick of photography

No tricks actually fits quite well.
This is what it looked like mounted to my old skyline. Prefer how it looks on the e30

Does first gear exist with the zf and 4.10?

                    Cool car.

                      Cool car.

Yes but it's so pointless. Redline is pretty much 35kmh and I'm already shifting to second before I get through an intersection. Then third right after. Highway driving is the worst .

                          2.93 , 3.15 , 3.23, and 3.46 is considered pretty aggressive so a 4.10

As stated by 2mAn those would be a more ideal diff ratio. The car itself it self is full torque and wheel spin. I'm going to eventually look into getting a 3.23 or 3.46 for when I go turbo on the car.
