Thanks guys! Which part of the intake? All the boots and hoses are Samco Sports.

Bimmerworld has a 3.5" and a 3.0" HFM silicone elbow with the two fittings for the PCV and ICV. For some reason it looks lumpier than the BW part, MPact also makes a boot as well that looks longer. Or, it could be a custom piece that he cut two holes for the PCV and ICV.

Looks great dude, I'm shortly behind you, and it looks like you're as anal as I am about things being done right. But at least every bit of hardware on the engine and engine bay is new OEM. I'm looking at about $12k by the time this is done, right now I'm just waiting on hardware to be shipped so I can bolt on the accessories and drop it into the engine bay.

I like the clean parts on yours. I wish the place that built my engine had spent more time cleaning the little things. I might have to take a few parts into work and have someone bead blast them I guess.

Question: I see you got the Samco TB boot. Is that the one they've had out for a while? Bimmerworld said they had something new coming out soon, but I don't know what, so I've held out on my order.

Anyway, looks great man, good job!

              Mine now...

It is the 3.0" to 3.5" Samco boot from Bimmerworld. Took them a lil while to get it in black though. It makes a nice transition to the Euro HFM.

To my knowledge, Bimmerworld is not really coming out with something new persay. Instead, they are trying to eliminate the wait associated with the special order Samco stuff by having a company make the same thing stateside. They are already having this company make their "house" silicone rad. hoses. I was told this was one of, if not the last batch that they were ordering from Samco. I guess they want the things sooner than 6-8 weeks after ordering. :)

And the black does usually look lumpier than the blue, but that is just cus it is black. Just like the cars, black shows the imperfections more.

Ahhh, ok. I guess I better just get my order in then, I need the 3.5" as well. I'd rather have the black. I'm trying to keep away from the "bling" under the hood, so blue would be bad.

                  Thanks

Hey Curt, just out of curiousity, what is the little snorkel-looking deal in front of the intake manifold butted up to the radiator?

That pipes down to the back of the alternator. Its factory. I beleive it is to assist in cooling of the alt.

downside to the samco boot is: it has a gnarly bend to it. they are all alike as a few of us have the same part and problem. it comes off the TB bends just a little over 90 degrees forward. when all is said and done it points the filter/afm towards the motor, as opposed to away from it. only way to fix it is mount the boot kinda crooked on the tb, or get crafty with some piping, which both me and curt need to do. im actually kind of dissapointed with it, as for some reason it has fallen off my TB twice now, thank god i havent been in traffic as i have no power to get my self out! im hoping because of the placement of the filter is the reason why its pulling itself off.

and no one here (unless youve seen it in person) can understand the cleanliness (sp?) of this car, it is amazing. i wish i had the same amount of "disposable" income as this kid does. definitely when it hits meets this year and next it should be a trophy car for worksmanship for sure. im glad i could throw a hand in here and there on it!

Muchas Jeff. Danka, to all the rest! Just a quick little update. Thing runs pretty strong. Very healthy as well. Just have an exhaust leak with the sleeves (which I am removing), transmission woes (which were there with the SETA, so its being replaced), and a couple suspension gremlins that are soon to be resolved.

It is definately a fun one and worth it. Thank you to those few who helped on some of the small stuff, and to those on the board that I got parts from in the last year.

I will be adding a sound clip soon as well. :)

                            -edit-
Oh yes, and for those curious on numbers, I dont usually like to publish. However, with all the little things and big things I did/got/upgraded, this swap is over the $12k mark for the engine, e36 brakes, e36 steering rack etc.

Ignore the Honda, its not mine :)
