The lowest part of the car is the engine cross-member. Oil pan is higher. No worries for us ......

Ok so ground clearance? Does anything hang down lower than normal M20 stuff? Only reason I ask is I'm planning on doing this swap later in the year to early next year and my car is not super low but my oil pan has some scratches on it >> so its about 1.5 inches above the ground at the oil pan. (Granted my car isn't a DD I use it for track and weekend runs) I really don't want to have to raise the ride height for this swap. ><

Looks like it uses the bolts that hold the back cover on.

lol, well I've got a 69 Nova I'll be putting an LS1 in, but if it's quicker/cheaper to do the E30, I might do that first. ;)

The E30 Diff is 3-point mounted from the factory. This allows the diff to move around under "higher than normal input of torque" [heee heee], so we are implementing a fourth mounting point. The fourth point will use a standard E30 diff bushing as we like th keep the NVH down. It will be a bolt-in unit, with no changes to the diff cover. We have not yet looked at the M3-style finned cover, but will do so soon.

Is it even necessary to add a second mount for the diff? I've already got a 75D mount from akg. Hell, what's the power limit on E30 diffs?

    Matt
thats what i wanted to know..... GOOD QUESTION! i automaticlly was thinking 12bolt/dana/ford 9in... apparently people have gotten away with using bmw diffs for a while. just not sure of the longevity/dependability.

I don't think the $1700 price tag for some mounts will work on an e30.
