If you need to upgrade your rear end, just use the stock 325 rear end with an E36 diff cover and add another diff mount, or use and MZ3 rear trailing arm swap for 5-lug and bigger axles and use an E36 diff mount with the added diff support.

Bob Heacox is from Gig Harbor, correct? Last I heard he was upgrading to LS7.

If not then it means a lot more custom work to make a Ford Cobra rear end or something similar work.

This'll be similar to what i'll do if i bust the diff mount eventually. Cage and rear bars tie down to a custom diff mount (same style as orig. one just made out of plate steel) That pic is from a guy here in Aus who's done a 2jz swap (hope you dont mind i stoled your pics ben! :D)

You guys would have no problem adapting a different diff if need be, your skills are there :)

What was fabricated and what parts came from BMW for the remote brake booster? Also, what is your plan for the rear end?
We fabbed up everything in the remote booster linkage. All bell crank housings, and the bell cranks themselves. Parts (rods, rod ends, etc.) were bought from Misumi (misumiusa.com). A few pages back I posted a picture of one of the drawings we have of it. If anyone is interested there are 4 pages of PDF drawings that I will give out for free or donation. One page of the drawings is how to fabricate the main bell crank housing because the process isn't enitrely straightforward. We don't want to deal with the legal issues but are more than happy to share our design.

Here is the first page I think

Also, here are a few quick pics I just took of how it sits now.

I still have to finish welding up my exhaust, from about the front end of the gas tank back, and do all the wiring but that's about it. Also, we have to get a different radiator or get ours modified because of some interference issues. Oh and I just spent about 40 min pumping tranny fluid in and my shoulder is killing me...lol. Major PITA.

[QUOTE BTW - is the "vats disabler" the thing to bypass the resistors in the key thing?QUOTE]

If I understand you correctly...yes. We could have just gotten the GM VATS removed when we have the PCM re-flashed but we thought it would be kinda cool to keep.

I may sound like an s14.net purist, but...

    NOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buy an 90 235i and swap that bitch with whatever ya want. Dont pull a BMW mill out to drop a ls/xin a less then 5k production vehicle
Obviously he can do what he wants, but just a handy little piece of info, Bob Heacox, who did this to a silver E30 M3 said that by selling all the M3 stuff he didn't need (mainly just the S14) he covered the cost of the LS1 and T-56. Not a bad option if you ask me. Because of this he had money for cam/heads etc. and is running something like 420 hp...

I know this is like 3 or so pages back, but... S/C'd it will run great. I owned a D1SC procharged Camaro SS, which ran very very nice. It made 490rwhp on 6.5 psi and a mustang dyno. So dynojet would have been 500 HP+. I could only imagine how that would feel in an E30. It felt pretty damn strong in a full interior camaro (3600lbs).

Best of luck with the long term goals, if you SC it, it would only add to an amazing car that you have!

If we do that though we're going to think about re-doing the rear end and possibly adding a roll cage/substantial chassis stiffening. At the very least the 5 bolt conversion. Eventually hopefully it will be supercharged.... that's the long term goal

Honestly this project is a learning experience for the both of us. He's got a bunch of experience as chief mechanical engineer for a company in the aerospace industry and is just ridiculously knowledgeable, but neither of us had a bunch of fabricating experience. We bought a welder at the beginning of the project and I practiced on scrap for awhile and that's it. I think that a lot of projects are possible if you are smart, learn quickly, and plan ahead well. It kind of bugs me when I see projects that people just shove off to a shop to do for them...
