Ironice that the people that do this for a living around me relized that you do have to cut out sheet metal to get some tubes to fit. I just cut a little more then needed since this is my first cage. If it takes a little longer to finish the car i really dont care. For me right now its all about building the car and learning as much as possible. Driving the car is simply the reward for all my effort.
Yea the car is a little cut up but i dont know of any other way to fit some of these bars with the level of skill, so like everything else it is always a compromise so i decided to cut the sheet metal in order to place the bars where i wanted them. All the sheet metal will be removed at the spot welds and new panels will the installed. Im getting complete front fender inner walls for the front.
Now for the update. I put the floor back in, it honestly was easyer then i expected.
The front passanger side of the cage is basicly done. I just have to do the other side and then i will install the bar to tie to the towers together to finish the front. The rear of the cage is done, and im very happy with how it turned out, I'm much happier with how it turned out vs the first time i did it. Ive also decided to tie my seat into the cage so im going to be adding a bar or two on the floor.
YEs the tube will be cut off shortly after the weld.
I finally got to use the dimple dies, idk how a cheap press can work, i tried a 10 ton and it didnt work i ended up using a 50 ton hydrolick press
