I want to say it was just shy of 2k-ish minus the brakes which I found over on S14. You can figure another 200 to 300 for used calipers and then you will need rotors and pads, another $300-ish. I made up a little ground by selling the brand new front strut tubes to a member here who really needed them to make it to Bimmerfest last year. About a week later I stumbled on a set of used front strut tubes on S14 that were already shortened and reinforced for GC's. I got them for half of what I paid for the new ones.

Thanks for the comments, you have Sean's old car right?

Well GC surprised me and provided exceptional customer service! They ended up selling me a new set of rears which wont be in stock for another 2 to 3 weeks. I will send them my bad shocks and they will push them through for warranty at Koni. Once they recieve them back, they will issue me a full refund.

If I had gone through Koni, it was $110 per shock + parts and only a 6 month warranty.

GC called this afternoon, Koni warrantied the bad shock. I bought one new shock so that I have a matching pair and GC will return all 3 so I have a backup with the one existing that is good. Shocks were shipped out tonight so I should have them early next week. I should have the car on the ground and driveable on Thursday.

This weekend I'm going to drop the front subframe and replace the leaky oil pan gasket. As long as I'm in there, I will take care of the oil return line for the turbo so that I dont have to deal with it later when I install the TCD kit.

Congrats on moving this project forward. Glad to hear your experience with GC was better than most; maybe they're turning over a new leaf.

Is your exhaust a Stromung? Just curious why you're selling it, since I have one sitting in the garage waiting to go onto my cabrio.

                Thanks Tim,

In talking with Mark at GC, thats what it sounds like.

As for the exhaust, I have a full TCD exhaust that will go on the car when I install the turbo. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Stromung, and in fact, its one of my favorite sounding exhaust systems I've ever owned.

Finally! The rear subframe gave me fits this past weekend until I came across Fredk's suggestion with the 5/8 lag bolt from Lowes. That worked like a charm.

And while I was waiting for the PB Blaster to soak into my subframe, I got a few things done.

And installed a 35w 6k HID into my scooter!

                  stock low beam:

                  and with the HID:

and then I couldnt stop, had to install the Night rider lights...

                  More updates later this week.

In order to remove the subframe from the car, I removed the long studs from the car by smacking them up into the cabin. I then screwed a 5/8" lag bolt into the soft aluminum of the subframe bushing from the bottom, then went inside the car and hit the lag bolt with a 3/8" extension. This was, of course, after I removed the brake lines, the parking brake lines, the brake wear sensor wire, and the ABS sensors from the TAs.

Yessir, i have been debating on returning it to its former glory and getting the body fixed or just turning it into a track car. I have had trouble finding a used oem carpet though which has been the most time consuming.

                                Update

Its almost ready to take down off the jackstands. Got the rear sway bar reinforcements welded in, Powerflex RTAB's done(what a bitch), M3 bearings pressed in, and the front is almost complete.

Some pics from the last few days of casually working on it.
