reading this makes me want to get back into my own projects. I'm not nearly as good as GG but the attention to detail is amazing.

I found an accelerometer at radioshack I was thinking of making a G-meter out of some LEDs.

I wonder if you could take that amtel chip and make a datalogger for all the gauges you've been making. That would be pretty pimp. Then you could make a data aquisition program.

I'm fairly good with higher languages and did a few things in assembly. I always figured EE type ppl would be better at it but I guess not.

    Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

I should have an update with lots of pics up on Sunday night. Nothing too big, but I've gotten a bit of work done since the whole I-was-literally-in-a-coma-for-month episode.

Then, I'll do a hard push over the next month or two to get at least one new product out. I've set aside some money to throw at this - so we'll see what happens!

Should be fun to watch. Let me know if I'm boring you guys with detail - (well thought out) feedback is welcome.

Are you planning on a numerical WB gauge or a numerical boost gauge?

Most of the next few updates will just be showing some work that will lead up to more exciting updates. Tune in next week if you are bored by the means and methods.

First, some house-keeping. I know not everyone is on R3V constantly. So I’ll be sending out emails when new products and are available. If you want to be added to the list, all you need to do is send me an email. Put “mailing list” in the title and I'll add you.

                              george.graves@gmail.com

Secondly, one of the reasons this project hasn’t go too far is - encase you haven’t heard – I was in the hospital.

The clift’s notes version of it is that I was fine one minuet then next thing you know I was circling the drain of eternity. I'm much better now - still a little week - and a few other things, but much better! You can read the thread if you would like. But, to everyone that had to wait for parts – I want to thank you for being so understanding. I’m 100% caught up now. All I can say is you guys rock.

                              Onto the updates.

So one thing that I’ve been wanting to improve is how I’ve been taking pictures. It’s time for a “light box” or “light tent” as some people call it. (I'm sure you photos have something to say about all of this - go easy on me please!)

½” PVC plastic conduit. You can use PVC plumbing pipe as well, it’s just the conduit is cheaper. I bought 40 feet – but only used 30. (I’ll buy another 10 feet and make a smaller box later.)

The key to this thing is the corner pieces. They are referred to in the plumbing trade as “side out 90’s” – and one look at them you can see why. My local ACE Hardware had these. The “side out” part was threaded. I needed an adapter.

                              miter box

Clean up the edges with sand paper.

It's just that simple. I'm making this one 3" cubed. But that's because I wanted to be able to take pictures of instrument clusters. I wanted the room to work.

Set up up. Add lights. 2 - 200watt bulbs.

and one used bed sheet. I bought this one off of Blunt. I had to bleach the hell out of it.

Turns boring photos like this....(same set up, no bed sheet)

Into this! POW!!!!!! Well, that's just with a little sony cyber-shot. It's really hard to adjust the exposure levels. I think I might pick up a older Canon, and run the "chdk" firmware hack on it. It replaces the firmware of the camera and give you all sorts of shutter speed options - total control of the camera. Anyways, not bad for $40 in parts and a bed sheet. Next I want to make or buy a little tri-pod, that will help a lot.

Well - that's not all - but that's all for tonight. Next I'll try and share some of the new processes and equipment I'm working with to make this next batch of products.

Might try going with a florescent bulb that has a whiter color temp. I built a white box out of foam board once and having the right bulbs made all the difference.
