No idea what is going on in this thread but looks cool. I guess the business and industry world are scared shitless of 3d printers due to the fact they can make fucking anything including firearms

Sorry - no. I've had to switch focus on work that pays the bills. So it took a back burner.
A few 3d printer set backs. The hobbed bolt I ordered wasn't cut correctly(actually I spec'ed it wrong - my bad). I can't source m4 hardware locally like I expected to. And I *still* need to pick out some stepper motors(I'm quite picky in what I buy, if you haven't noticed)
On top of that I'm about to release a new product....so I've been "stress" testing it in my free time.

Any updates? I just bought all of my printed parts to start building an i3 single plate, I'm so excited to get started!-AlexComment

That's something you can define in software. And needs clever engineering. But yes, there are limits to a "layer by layer" positive 3d printing. In the same what that CNC can't do some type of pockets. And injection molding can't do some parts in one piece.Last edited by george graves; 08-05-2013, 11:44 AM.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

Good question. If you have cad experience, you'll be ahead of the curve on the design. As I said before - the electronics are almost all plug and play (compared to something like a stereo install - no biggie - a monkey could do that)- and the physical building is almost trivial as well. The "tuning" of the whole set up is a bit of a "black magic" - and that's something that you have to be really patient with, and learn as you go. You'll make a whole lot of bad prints. So if you give up on frustrating things easily - it's not for you. But if you work in cad/engineering, you know the drill. You'll be fine.Last edited by george graves; 08-05-2013, 11:44 AM.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

Sorry for the lack of 3D printer updates.
I've been working on a fun new product. It took a ton of work to get everything just right - and make it reproducible.
Plug and play, true one touch e36 window switch conversion.
Did I mention it's 100% plug and play? ;)
Unplug your stock e30 window switch, plug this in. Done. I'm wrapping pictures tonight. This isn't a "beta" project. It's done and ready to go.
A few teasers.
