    Spec build . . .

Finally, this weekend, I will be making serious progress on the car.

    Started as this:

Then a little work later - it looked like this:

Then went with Fuh Raze coilovers

and some better safety equipment for DE days.

I also fixed the rusty fender and painted the bumpers and front valance Sterling to match.

And it gave me many happy hours of high speed bliss . . .

And then we got towed home from Putnam last May after I done blowed up mah engine.

Since then, the car has been stripped inside and I have been taking WAAAAAAYYYYYYY too long to get the engine rebuilt.

But now, I have some time tomorrow night and Saturday, and I am going to make the most of it.

The car is at my buddy Kevin's shop where he has allowed me the use of his tools and lift, and he is also doing some major things for me on the car as well --- and here is where he sent me a snappy snap today to show what he is doing to it now.

More to follow after this weekend.

Should I take the obligatory standing in the empty engine bay shot?

Woot! I've been waiting for this.

You're going to be cutting it a little close aren't you? RA is just, what, 3 weeks away?

We'll be there all day on Friday + doing the enduro Friday afternoon, hope this thing makes it down in time.

Yeah - I am. And I share your hope. I went out to the shop late this afternoon and spent a few hours there. More to do tomorrow.

            :-)

I FINALLY heard from the Spec exhaust guy today, but he says there are some others in line in front of me.

I have another exhaust I can use in the interim if need be.

Its going to be down to the wire if I make it to RA.

Didn't get out to work on it today.

I wrenched something in my lower back this morning while doing a few things at the house. So the idea of turning wrenches didn't appeal to me so much today.

Also discovered yesterday that I forgot to get control arm bushings (just ordered them, so that takes care of that) and I am still waiting on a throttle body I bought from a certain someone here that has thus far taken 27 days to NOT show up yet. So it wasn't going to be running anywhere today regardless.

                  Yup.

The little bit of rust in the passenger fender lip is getting repaired. Other than that spot, she's solid.

I've got a spare Tbody that I can ship out on Monday if need be.

I have a T body, but I snapped off one of the bolts that hold on the coolant passage thingie when I was trying to remove it to replace the leaky gasket. If worse comes to worse, I can get it running with the one I have. I can just bypass the coolant line. (So long as I fix it before I get a log book - I know).

                      Thanks though.

Bypass the coolant lines to the tbody anyway. Why do you want to heat up the intake air? You'll learn lots of tricks once you start hanging out with the racers at RA.

I had the coolant lines bypassed already. The only reason I was worried about fixing it was because I was categorically told that bypassing it is not Spec legal. If I am mistaken about that, please let me know.

When making a BLT, the trick is to toast one side of the bread with the left over bacon grease.
