yeah, actually. I tend to buy stuff and then forget I have it.. I think I have 3 brand new thermostats in my spare parts box. :p
of course the logic that follows - if you are swapping in a "new" engine, are you going to use an old water pump? are you going to replace gaskets and hoses?
And it begins...

haha, you have all brand new parts laying around? Must be nice.Originally posted by nandoI don't know, I tend to have that sort of stuff laying around.
If you are building an engine, you don't put used parts on it...Leave a comment:

yours must have been plated in gold then. ;)Originally posted by madjurgenplus piston rings and oil pump makes ~$1450.Leave a comment:

My 2.8 is pretty awesome, hell even Mr M52 himself (mot) thought it was pretty damn fun :)Leave a comment:

Good luck!
LOL at checking the valve clearance (in reference to Jordan's 2.8 build for those who don't know) <--- right? hehe.Leave a comment:

If you're interested, I have a set of Racing Dynamics K27 pistons (84mm, 10.2:1, made to work with the b27 crank, b25 rods, and a b25 head). Brand new. I also have some b25 rods laying around from a 123k mile engine (along with the head from the same engine).
Just an alternative to the super eta pistons...Leave a comment:

Talk to some of the LOCAL engine builders. See what they recommend as far as machine work goes. Honestly, I would build a "loose" engine and make as much power as possible via a custom tune/stand alone.Leave a comment:

I'm going to get the engine I want, with the mods I want. I can change more things later, but initially, I'll have a fresh, really quick M20. I think I'll get pretty good power out of it. I'm really not going to have to spend all that much on parts. Mainly what I need for the engine itself is headers, an i head, seta pistons, and an i harness/ECU. Then I just need a more appropriate diff, and I'm going to have a full exhaust done.
So Mike, if I'm not going to be using the hella old cold start valve, can I just hack those studs off? I was looking at a couple other blocks I have sitting out back, and neither of them have those studs.Leave a comment:

thats the studs to mount the cold start valve for the OLDSKOOL distributor cars--e21/non kat 320 e30s and such.Leave a comment:

Its not that your doing it wrong. I think hes just saying with the build your planning, your going to spend a lot of money and not get much hp gain.Leave a comment:

what was mounted there on the driver's side of the block above the oil pump drive shaft? I've never seen studs in that location on an m20 blockLeave a comment:

I am probably going to do a MarkD chip. Not following what you mean by "proper" rebuild. What's wrong with how I'm planning to do it?Leave a comment:

lol. I didn't even notice the place you posted was the same place I was talking about.
Oh well, at least now he doesn't have to google it. :)Leave a comment:
