Well ladys and gents. The paint work of the engine bay is done.
The photos didnt come out that good because of the heat in the room the car was being baked it.
But you should get an idea of how smooth the paint is and how clean it is.
I also had the VC done at the same time.
Enjoy.
OK Fellas, A big update tonight. It has been a long night of work so Im going to explain a little of what happend.
I stripped the booster down to bare metal and sprayed it with a fresh coat of black.
While that was drying I took the time to sand the ABS unit and spray it black as well.
I then drilled holes for the brake booster to slide it over 1/2 inch. I also took this time to make the wires longer for the ABS. Since I ran the wires on the outside of the fender well I didnt have enough slack to plug it in.
oh yeah. I also got the motor in too.
I got to shim it still to the passenger side. Maybe a 1/4 spacer will take car of the rest of the clearance with the brake booster.
Well on to the photos fellas. If you have any questions just ask.
Thanks fellas.
I hope my gasket for the vanos unit comes today so I can get all that stuff back together.
I still need to do a lot of stuff. More then I thought, but its ok. Car isnt going any place when the snow flys.
Well photobucket was nice enough to allow me to load some more photos so time for an update.
I got the motor set in place and realized I needed to make more room between the booster and intake, The grinding of the ribs on the side just wasnt enough.
So I added some shims on the driver side and I added a few on the passenger side and I was good to go. I was able to slip a nickle between the intake and booster and that was good enough for me.
I noticed when I was adding the shims that the front OBD2 header was super close to the sway bar so I had to cut off some of the collector.
Thats next on the list of things to order once the motor is runnin.
I had the whole pan reinforced with 1/4 inch aluminum plate so it should hold up for some time.
Along with some stiff springs, I should be golden.
I just wanted to tuck the wires that ran across the driver frame rail.
I got a 318is wiring harness cover for the firewall.
Im not going for super tucked but I wanted to clean it up some.

I like the look you're going for. There is a battery tray cover as well that will help clean up the look of the engine bay:
And that other piece is a trimmed down ECU cover from an E34. Just a suggestion.
Yeah I have the battery tray cover as well. I bought it all new form the dealer. I have some carbon fiber coil covers and fuel covers too.
The intake is being painted gloss black to match the VC and engine bay.
I bought a new window washer tank and brake res to help clean that all up.
I just bought s52 cams, injectors, 540 maf, and a tms chip. I just need to find M52 or S52 lifters and cam trays. I think I got a line on some. :)
