Today marked a significant day in the build of this car. Today, the car backed up on its own power and went for a drive in the neighborhood. This is not the same car it was before the transformation. This car....leaves a smile on my face. :p
It was not without incident. ABS light is on and the engine ran hot. Need to bleed the system and change the aux fan. To be fair, it is pretty hot, close to 100 but it seems like it always is here. The good news is no leaks. The clutch is quite sensitive. But damn that engine revs.
More importantly, I met my goal. I got the car running and drove it before the arrival of lil' jackbenny. yeah he's running late mainly because of the procrastinator genes my wife and I gave him but maybe, just maybe he wanted me to drive it before his arrival.
The car has its HID's installed and all the lights work. Fogs go on next and the interior is forthcoming. got the new pedals installed and the gauges are all wired up. I'm looking forward to shaking it down and getting it set up nice. I will try and get some pictures and a video up provided i have the opportunity. ;)

I had that goal...My son is now 7 months old and the car is STILL not running right!
So the kid STILL isn't here. He's only one week late but everything seems to be cool according to the doctor. I elected to take the day off because the morning was shot at the OB. Luckily, we both came back, watched the latest Top Gear and then I finished up the foglight installation.
I had a horrendous time with the cluster last week. The tach stopped working on me. Ultimately, I found a burned circuit line on the board so I swapped the board with another cluster I had. Tach still didn't work so I tried my original Tach. That one did work so I elected to put together a new cluster with all the best parts from what I had.
The carnage was great...
But the results are nice...
Today, I took the car out for a spin mainly so I could turn it around in the garage and have more space on the driver's side. I put the center of the dash back together so I could place the auxiliary gauges in a place that was more visible. I had some issues getting the faces to light up so I called SpeedHut to see what I did wrong. Turns out I had misplaced an inverter so they sent me a new one the same day. These guys are really nice to do business with. I intend to use them for my "EVO 2" cluster later on. ;)
While the car was out, some pictures were required.
I'm pretty sure the neighbors who were home were pretty pissed but at least I did it in the middle of the day. Car runs strong and the turn-in is something else. Need to get the Falkens scrubbed in a bit. They spun when I backed it in the garage!
Still runs hot but that's to be expected as I haven't bled the system yet. But I did have a gauge with numbers on it and it was in the 210 to 220 F range. I'm looking at some puller electric fans as well. Dude8383 seems to have a solution that works with A/C. I am also considering 2 smaller fans to see if my clearances improve with that.
Thought I'd close with one last picture with the lights on...

I would recommend two fans, I don't recall if you decided to keep a/c though. If you aren't then you should be totally find with a nice and large 16" fan in front of the radiator setup as a pusher.

Keeping A/C is a must in the south. Besides, that was the only requirement that the wife wanted for the car.
The fan research is daunting though. I need to start making mockups and see what fits.
I love those wheels! What size are they? I can't find it earlier in the thread. I have decided I want the black version of these for my alpine car because of these pictures!
