I'm not an adjuster but I find that in almost all of our flood claims, if the water goes higher than the floorboards we "OTL" the car (obvious total loss). Given that there are a lot of computer modules in the floor area of newer Audis that are quite costly to replace..... stick a fork in it - she's done.-Geno

the same happened to my escort gt. water up to the bottom of the seats and my cd changer and 1 amp under the seat was submerged.

my dad left it in front of his friends house and it was raining really hard. when he came back i guess the water subsided and he tried to start it. i have a cold air intake that is down the fender. good thing he didn't start it with the water still up. car won't start and i had it towed to my house. never tried to start it again and let it dried for a week.

i air dried the interior, sprayed lysol, removed my amp and changer to let dry as well. i removed the air filter and afm. checked the oil and it was fine. i blow dried the engine to make sure and reconnected everything. the car started right up but my radio is still not working. i used seafoam and changed the oil, drained the coolant and replaced too. i'll reconnect my amp and see if it plays. other than the radio, no electrical issues at all.

i was bumed because the car was a great daily and for a 91 model it only had 75K miles. it had no full coverage and it's probably only worth less than $2K running.

unless water got in the engine, trick is to let everything dried before starting. disconnect the battery ASAP to avoid any short.

 this was my first car
