No helmet or pads and FUCKING SANDALS = FAIL.

Yeah, the chick shouldn't have crossed the double yellow, but the guy should have been there in the first place. How many times did HE cross the double line?

It's idiots like this that make longboarders/skateboards outlaws.

          No reason for a longboard.

            ^ agreed :P

Who wears pads and an helmet while skateboarding anyways?

I don't know about longboardes but the only thing that makes skateboarders outlaws is insurance laws.

I always wore a helmet anytime I was skating vert or parks when I was a kid, and I always wear one now when I'm longboarding if I'm doing hills or anything, not so much when I'm out cruising.

Ask delta about helmets, wasn't it your Dad, or someone's you knew that died in a longboarding accident because he wasn't wearing a helmet?

^ There was some sarcasm that was missed i think.

Personally I have never worn pads or a helmet while skating unless going to a mega park were it was mandatory and even then I usually only wore a helmet.

I think the majority people here know of someone that has had head trauma and on that note I understand why people do wear them.

I do, I carried a good friend into Grady hospital in Atlanta with a cracked shull from a handrail gone wrong. His body went into shock as well as his brain, it was very scary. That being said, I only wear a helmet on vert, and on my bike. I don't longboard BC at speed it is very, very dangerous. Most who get on a board cannot stop or react the way someone who has been on a skateboard all of their life can. Longboarding is comparable to snowbaording until it's time to get out of trouble. Those who longboard with little to no skateboarding experience are putting themselves and others in harms way.

Well, I was hoping to bump this thread today with pics of the new Revenge trucks that Andrew got me for my birthday, but instead I'm bumping it because a friend of mine died in a longboarding accident last night. He was riding in a development that is known in Bend for being up in a VERY hilly, steep area, with no helmet, and it's also getting out that he had been drinking.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you go our riding, I don't care if you're skating at the park or bombing hills, wear safety gear, and at least a HELMET. This guy left behind a wife and 3 kids, and if he'd been wearing a helmet, he'd still be a alive.

Still gonna stick to that line of thinking? Try telling that to this guy's kids.

Just picked it up for $60!

Here's a problem I've been having though. Its been a long time since i ridden a skateboard (13 years). I find myself riding goofy (right foot front), but I'm also comfortable pushing with my right foot. Usually I see guys push with their back leg. I'm having trouble trying to keep my balance when I pushing hard. Like i'm kicking the board from under me.

Does it really matter which leg I use?

I know this is stupid, fundamental stuff, but I had to ask, lol.

                      Sold.......again.

Pushing with your front foot is called pushing mongo. Some guys do it and like it, but I find it weird. It really doesn't matter how you do it, as long as it works for you. Have you tried riding standard and pushing normally like that?

Well I ride my snowboard goofy, so I'm more comfortable that way. I've tried riding goofy and pushing with my back foot and it's uncomfortable for me. I guess my left leg feels more stable then my right. I can ride regular, just more comfortable riding goofy. Guess I'll build up my right leg so I can push with my back leg when I'm goofy stance.

A couple of my friends spent the month of August shooting a longboard movie with local riders. The project took them from Portland, OR to Vancouver, B.C.. It is split up into four parts that air every other week on Thursday. First part aired last Thursday centering on Portland, next week is Seattle, and the two weeks after are in Vancouver. Figured you guys would enjoy some quality longboard footage.
