fox's blatant conservative bias is acknowledged even at the highest levels, but it isn't some neo-con conspiracy. ailes and murdoch have both said if there was money in fronting a more liberal view, they would be all over it. it's money. get over it.

Cable news is like pro wrestling, and you fools are actually arguing about it. Look at history, the media has been trying to sway public opinion one way or another long before your parents were born. Look up newspaper wars, Hearst family, or yellow journalism.
Now Fox news def bends to the right. But at least they bring outstanding entertainment value. Shep Smith is friggin great. "News" on the left is not as fun as they're too busy trying to convince us they have no slant.
The REAL entertainment is "conservative" talk radio. Holee shit those guys are awesome!

Personally I prefer to get my news from as unbiased a source as possible, so I usually go to CNN, the BBC or the IHT. All of those are known for their excellent reporting and investigating, and stay away from conservative/liberal punditry and other biased crap. To those in this thread who say they like to get their news from Fox, I suggest you try a more reliable and credible source.

Making fun of a guy because his last name is Leslie? C'mon are these guys in 5th grade? At least "The Daily Show", is actually funny and intelligent.
As for the conservative talk radio comment I will assume you were being sarcastic. Or were you being sarcastic in your entire post? If so disregard all of the above.sigpic

Claiming that other news stations are biased (which is a worthless statement) is not a response to someone claiming that Fox is biased. Your saber-rattling and completely indignant self-righteousness are not making as big an impression as you hoped, right? Shame.
BTW, the poster claimed FNC is the largest single donor to the RNC and I proved him wrong with facts, which is something that is sorely missing from most of this thread.
Most of the people who claim FNC is biased have only watched excerpts on YouTube or "The Daily Show" or some shit like that.
And as Hallen points out above, FNC slants their talk shows to the right, but not their "hard news"
Can't say the same for just about every other network and news channel which slants their commentary and their hard news to the left.
Again, I ask the question: Is Fox News right wing, or does it only appear that way in contrast to the rest of the media, the same media that gives 78% of their campaign contributions to the DNC?
Perhaps FNC is pulling high ratings because they are not doing what everyone else is doing, and that is, reporting news from a left leaning perspective.
Murdoch saw a void (balanced news) and filled it and reaped high ratings and made money while these other networks are fading and losing money because they are doing what every other media outlet is doing.
And just about every newspaper links to the AP or the NY Times for National news and those outlets lean left.
I've posted enough links to non-partisan, non-biased sources to back my claims.
People can wish to ignore them and keep parroting the same BS that isn't backed by facts at the risk of appearing intellectually lazy and ignorant.
If I make a claim, I will back it up with links to non-partisan sources and ask others to do the same.
Coming on here and stating "Fox News is right-wing and everyone knows it" without posting some facts to back it up is weak.
I've proven that the MSM has an inherent bias towards the left based on things like the fact that they donated 78% of their campaign money to the DNC, and that the biggest, most non-partisan media study shows that 18 of the top 20 media outlets lean left.
Take talk-radio out of the equation and that number is even higher.
Just because FNC is to the right of the MSM does not necessarily mean they are right of center, but the facts do prove that the MSM is left of center.
So again, how far left of center is the MSM and how far right of the MSM is FNC and are they right of center?
I argue that the success of FNC says that they are filling a void left by a MSM that leans left.
Is FNC right wing, or do they only appear so in contrast to the rest of the media which demonstrably and factually leans left?sigpic

It's certainly not "The Daily Show" or anything like that.
My bet is you haven't been.
The sad fact is, pretty much no one else is investigating ACORN and they are corrupt and fraudulent and the people at the top have been embezzling money while campaigning for a "living wage" while paying their own employee's below the minimum wage, not paying OT, etc...sigpic

I really don't have an opinion either way about the left or rightness of the news channels, but I would like to point out that some of the logic here is a little faulty.
Just because different media outlets donated to DNC more than they did to RNC, DOES NOT mean that a media outlet or an individual isn't the single largest contributor. Hell I'm just going to throw out a hypothetical to make my point:
John waffleswaffleswaffles contributes 70% of his money to DNC and 30% of his money to RNC. If his 30% to the RNC is the largest contribution that RNC gets, he's still the largest contributor to that group, even if he donated over twice that amount to DNC.
So e30 cabrio, most of those percentage facts that you posted on page 2 or 3 don't really mean squat because the quote that started this all was referring to Merdoch, not to FNC. The guy was trying to say that Merdoch donates money to RNC and also runs FNC, albeit the grammar was a little messy, but you misread it and started flying off the hook with the links to campaign contributions.
Also, Merdoch could have been supporting Hillary because he thought the Rep had a better chance against her than Obama, the world may never know.
End of story...

I remember about a year ago hearing a media bias study out of NYU. I'm going to try and find the link.
If my memory is correct, the NYU study actually rated Fox News centrist with a mild swing to conservative on certain shows. As a whole, Fox News was the most centrist network. They found all the other major news programs as mildly to extremely liberal biased; NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, & CNN. I think the study was a 10-15 year study that included Clinton's term.
Here's another that came out in 2005 from UCLA.
Anyway, I like Glenn Beck. He's an independent thinker. If anybody watched his show last week when he had an open panel of tea party attendees from across the county, you would find that he's not against Rep. or Dems. He against big government and the direction that this country is going.Last edited by mscott; 05-09-2009, 07:50 PM.
