    Safari 4

It appears the new safari is out, and I wanted to get other peoples opinions on it.

I downloaded it the other day, and thought "Yes, a new update. . . now it will be better than ever." Unfortunately I do not like the new safari. For the first time my computer has frozen, on multiple occasions, for about 5 seconds before returning to surfing the web. Just the other day, my computer did the unexpected. It quit the new Safari 4, and said there was a problem. I thought it seemed familiar, and realized thats what my PC use to do. Now my mac is doing it.

The new top sites is a waste of time, because the sites I go to a lot are already in my bookmarks at the top. I don't need another screen with the same options, which takes time to load when I am opening a new tab. Also, I liked the old loading bar, and am upset they got rid of it.

What say Safari 4 users of R3V? Likes dislikes?

Google Chrome is pretty crappy so far. Java support blows, they're on the second version and they STILL don't have smooth scrolling (it was the number 2 most user-requested feature), and the "options" they gave it are laughable at best.

I'm running Safari on Windows Vista SP2, and it's the best browser I've used yet, aside from Firefox. The best part about Safari for Windows is it's ability to smooth screen fonts even smoother than normal, which makes its interface GORGEOUS. The only gripe I have so far is that it for whatever reason, will stall for about 10-15 seconds at a time every once in a while.

I'm on a Mac, and I stopped using Safari at version 2. I don't like Safari's lack of a good adblock extension, and I hate the new top sites and location of the stop / refresh button. Plus, I hate that the stop and refresh buttons are combined into one button. I'll stick with Firefox with its separate stop and refresh buttons + AdBlock Plus.

mines frozen up to "quit unexpectedly" several times since i downloaded it like 2 days ago. all other versions of safari ive had have only done this a few times in years. i also dont like the load bar and i think the favorite sites thing is stupid. ill wait for a new update and forget about it. still better than firefox to me.

I'm doing the same thing. I got another update for the new safari 4 last night, and still no fixie. I guess I don't see why we needed a new one. The last version worked fine.

The new version is supposedly the fastest browser. I have noticed that it's quick.

But the periodic freezing is driving me insane. And yeah, it crashes from time to time. Kinda BS. Hopefully they sort it out quickly.

It's a great browser. Fast and sleek. I report no problems what so ever, it has a great interface very easy to use. This coming out of a Macbook pro user... :]

New safari 4 has broken at least 4 sites so far from yesterday. They work fine on all the others but refuse to display or display js popup errors and "DATABASE" query errors. They worked fine with older safari. Freaking Safari.

I'm a designer and developer, so far I'm still using firefox as my foundation for websites. It's the absolute best browser for interface design and architecture. Safari 4 is worse than the previous version imo, on both my mac and my pc. Yea my macbook may only have 2.6Ghz Dual core but when Safari stalls out on my custom built 3.0GHz Dual Quad Core????? Gimme a break. Chrome is fast but still a major bitch to mess with, especially in windows 7.

I say stick wth Firefox and life is just dandy!

I'm on windows and have been using safari 4 since beta came out, and I love it. It does have a few loading problems with certain java or flash sites, but it's so much faster than any other browser I've used. No complaints from me on it though, I like it.
