Ha! That was the first place I heard them. Of course it was 82 or 83, so MTV played music videos at that point and an occaisional metal video would get on the air. I remember when Somewhere in Time was coming out and they made a big deal about the Wasted Years video premiere.

Iron Maiden rules. If you like them you should check out Iced Earth... heavily influenced by Maiden and just as awesome in their own way.

^^^ Agreed Iced Earth is a great band. They've had a lot of different members though and you can hear pretty big differences between the albums, especially in terms of vocals. My favorite Iced Earth song would have to be Ten Thousand Strong. It's fucking epic.

          Iron Maiden < Motorhead

Yesteryears' worth is maybe becoming acceptable now because of the vacuum in today's musical landscape. Was REALLY anything new done for the past 20 years? One thing I can see is that bands don't need a record deal anymore. Every band can be self produced and can distribute music thru internet, make concerts on their own. Who needs a record company?

Artists make their dough thru tours, not by selling records. Companies make their money on records, not tours. No wonder that record companies are now freaking out... We don't need them anymore.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

I just have to bump this thread because i came across this vid on youtube of an AMAZING rendition of "The Sign of the Cross" sung by Bruce, even though it was a song written when Blaze Bailey was lead singer for his short stint.

Anyway, this song is fucking EPIC. This video showcases the musical genius of Iron Maiden. Watch the whole thing, and crank the volume, bands nowadays don't do the stuff the Iron Maiden can do, this song is like a musical journey, it changes constantly, and doesn't just repeat itself like all the other shit out there. I know the quality isn't the best. I wish i knew where this video came from so i can download or buy it high def.

              check it.

Another totally epic song, this time in HD, and split into two parts (because its so long, like 14 minutes):

MTV and any other mainstream "music" channel has gone for the money and featured mainly reality shows. I remember I was in high school when MTV said they were going to start to change the format to shows instead of videos. Fucking rediculous.

Hey Mario, when I was in High School there weren't even commercials on MTV. Martha Quinn and othe original "VJs" were still doing their thing. Now they're all on Sirius '80s on 8. Makes me smile to hear 'em.
