Yamaha r1/r6 or e30 lsx swap n paint?

As you all know I have a white 90 325is... Its rusty. not very bad but a little in the floors, doors, and a hole under the battery...

by christmas I will have at least $7-8k maybe more to blow on this project.

I recently got into the biker seen and I really like the harly sportsters and the triumph but I know I can't afford those. So my focus had been on a 2006-8 yamaha r1 or maybe r6.

now, if I buy the bike, I will have about 2k to spend on my e30 and we all know theres no way in hell I can afford a motor swap for that cheap and if I do it will leave the body to rust. I also doubt that I can completly cure all the rust and repaint it for only $2k or less...

Ive also done research on ls1-2-6's and would definately like to swap a 6.0 in. I love the feeling of a t56, 6spd are awesome and have great mileage. Doing this will leave me car-less for about 2-3 weeks but I have a full time job and we have no public transport in the burbs.. hopefully I can find means by the time if i decide to do this. this option is ver feasible as I get a nice engine trans, and body work for under 6k...

I can get the lsx and tranny for about 2-3 grand in good condition with all accs.

I'm stuck thinkin about this... I would hate to wait all this time avoiding paying bills n shit just to get all the money and blow it on sumthin not thoroughly thought through...

    wich would you decide?

    EDIT:::: I BOUGHT A BIKE>> NOT AN R^ BUT A NINJA zx-6R

here she is fellas. All assembled and ready to go.
just put in the new carbs

    Personal decision.

    I'd do neither.

yeah an r1 is a good purchase for someone who just got into the 'seen'.

In an unrelated note, im looking for an r1 engine to put in my go kart.

          why wouldn't you do neither?
keep in mind i'm young so I've failed to be a complete e30 enthusiast. but when I do find my perfect/clean e30, that bitch won't be touched... less drivin...

The bike will bring me excitement and make a good commute to and from the 9-5... great on gas too..

but, it won't be nearly as fun as a 350+hp e30 with lower front, and stiffened rear suspension. bad on gas tho. and I really don't want to continue to rack up the miles on this car. this is the original 280,000 mile engine.....

I'd say with that much cash, do a blown s52 swap or stock euro with some shopping around. LSx E30 swaps have a ton of custom fabrication and almost nothing is bolt on like it is with an S5x swap. There aren't many people who have gone that route for that reason.

A bike would be fun, but.....I'm not that into bikes.

Finally- you say you would be avoiding paying bills to do this; that's retarded. That means you can't afford to do it, so either set your sights lower or choose something else to do.

                1. How old are you ? Are you outgoing & easygoing?

                2. E30 + LSx = WOW from e30 crowds , plus some older car guys, less pretty girls.
And you may be famous on the internet, IF you post your DIY in details .

                3. Yamaha R1 or R6 = cut & dry is a head turner = more chance with pretty girls & cool network ( a whole new window)
And, Less DIY headache. Get it, get on, and have a good time.

My personal choice is Yamaha R1 or R6

Or better idea- sell current one, buy one without rust, swap s5x and/or blower, be happy.

                    well i'm 21...

I was just using the "avoid paying bills" for emphasis lol.. basicly I wanna save up plenty and stay devoted to one project...

DRIFT: and you did make a good point about the lsx that I failed to realize... I would get mad respect and bitches lol. But it would be nice to actually bring something to a car meet.... also, if I do go lsx I plan on buying the foam motor mock up and having everything fabbed up.. Beef up the subframe but still keep the safety features. I was thinkin of adjustable 1.5" steel links to the e30 chasis from the motor mounts... shave the engine bay completely and lower the brake booster. not sure how im gonna do this yet...

the r1 is starting to sound like a winner but this will take weeks of thinkin..

I know how it feels, i was 21 and went to town on that kind of things.
But, at the end of the day...girls > e30 cars ( compare the crowds behind them).

buy an even older r6 and do the ls1 swap.

i doubt its as hard as people think it is.

^ no swap is hard when you have space-time-resources... I have all three... you also need money and common sense, thats what i'm worin on...

The oldest r1/6 I would buy is an 04 and its around 3500... I would have money to buy the lsx and stuff but not enough for driveshat, suspension, and brakes...

and once again drift makes a point. no matter how fast my e30 is, its still an e30. bitches dont know how to desire a man in a e30, yet.
