This is one of the only times I will agree with our resident liberal. I'm positive if MJ had a better upbringing, he wouldn't have turned out the way he did.

Does Janet allegedly molest little girls, and have plastic surgery every couple of years? Do Jermaine and Tito constantly have to settle court battles to keep little kids quiet about molesting them? Do they hang their kids over balconies, and keep them veiled in public?

They don't do things like that, but aren't they fucked up in their own way? I have to do somer esearch before I can confirm that myself, but I remember reading somewhere that all Joe's kids had/have issues.

People are strange. Speculating why people are who they are is a shot in the dark. It's a combination of all life experiences. It comes down to how people bottle things up and which defense mechanisms they resort to. No one in this thread is going to understand why MJ was who he was. Stop trying. Seriously, it could have been the way a stranger looked at him once or something someone said.

Michael Jackson died of food poisoning.

He ate an eight year old wiener.

I'm glad you were able to overcome your circumstances, but there are many who aren't able to. To say that it's NEVER EVER the case is a completely baseless generalization and you know it.

Nature vs Nurture: Nature ALWAYS wins.

We'll be at NeverLand this Friday to pay some respect. I'm also curious to see how crazy this is going to turn out. Pics will be posted (If anything interesting occurs).

That's true, but you cannot blatantly deny that his father's intense pressure had nothing to do with how he turned out. Odds are that's the case, it can never be proved, but there is a strong correlation between the two.

                          +1

My life growing up was far less than perfect. But when I became an adult, I chose not to blame my parents for my problems. I worked them out and resolved them instead.

But there comes a time when you have the power to overcome these things. In spite of what our parents did to us, we don't have to live screwed up lives.

Like I said, it's a shot in the dark. Generally speaking one wouldn't link self mutilation and bleaching of the skin to past abuse.

I totally agree. It isn't a standard across the board that people with hard childhoods will become screwed up adults with no ifs ands or buts. People DO overcome their obstacles and can lead normal, healthy lives (ie. you and JAnderson)
However, it takes a special kind of person with an intense inner drive to overcome it, and maybe MJ didn't have it.

Possibly. We'll never know though. Personally, I believe if he had a childhood where he wasn't pressured as much, he wouldn't have turned out like he did, but that is my opinion and you are entitled to your own.

Everyone seems to overlook that MJ had a skin disease... but then if you listen to that, theres no way to talk shit, right? So lets ignore it...
