Yep, the Temple Garments are quite interesting, I have seen them peeking out of peoples clothing a lot. I'd think undies under your boxers is a kind of silly thing.
And really, hot beverages being bad for the body or temple?
And, the one that really gets me, how Jesus' second comming already happened, and he came to America?Comment

I have a friend at work who is Mormon. He's a solid dude; doesn't push shit on anyone, participates in most of the office ribbing that takes place, works hard, goes on our different sports events from the office, etc.
I think it boils back down to how hard-core the people are in how they relate to other people with regards to their religious beliefs. Someone can believe whatever they want, just don't push your shit on me or try to impact my life with it.PNW Crew

final thought:
the LDS temple up the freeway from me is solid marble. SOLID. The building is beautiful. BUT - if you're not LDS you can't go inside... why the secrecy? trying to drum up business? Make it an exclusive club? Only those inside the marble temple get to meet god? I don't get it... makes it seem cult-like. It either makes it exclusive like you know something others don't, or cheapens it to make it like a social club for god that's "members only". I'm leaning twoards social club idea...PNW Crew

Non members can't reach the secret third level of heaven, and would taint the temple with their unbelief being manifest inside the walls.Comment

" First, the garment provides the wearer with "a constant reminder" of the covenants made in the temple. Second, the garment "provides protection against temptation and evil". Finally, wearing the garment is "an outward expression of an inward commitment" to follow Jesus Christ."
Pretty much you receive them when you are either married or ordained an Elder/Missionary.
As far as hot beverages are concerned, it's part of the word of wisdom, but really only applies to coffee, tea, anything with caffeine. I.E. not hot chocalate.
And on the Jesus's second coming, Mormon's do not believe it already happened, but after he was crucified and resurrected he visited the Americas as well as other people. The second coming...is still coming lol.

But as an interesting note, after a temple is built and before it is sealed, they will have an open house that is open to the general public. I actually got to go inside the San Diego temple when I was younger and the craftmanship that goes into these buildings is absolutely amazing.Comment

I am preparing to bring up the correlation to Mormonism and Masonry. The similarities, relations are astounding. I am absolutely led to believe that all upper level LDS members know of, and accept, and may even partake in the Masonic connection.
I think this stuff will come up soon in society.
Also, how the fuck does "hot" relate to caffeine? One is told hot beverages are bad for the belly in the Word of Wisdom, but you can have cocoa?Comment

This Masonic stuff goes deep. I'm not trying to be tin-foil hatting it up either.

Relations... from...
Utah Lighthouse Ministry provides research comparing Mormon claims with Christianity as well as documentation on historical problems in LDS History.
1. Both the Masons and the Mormons have what is called "the five points of fellowship."
Mormons
"The five points of fellowship are given by putting the inside of the right foot to the inside of the Lord's, the inside of your knee to his, laying your breast close to his, your left hands on each other's backs, and each one putting his mouth to the other's ear, in which position the Lord whispers:
"Lord—'This is the sign of the token:
" 'Health to the navel, marrow in the bones, . . .
(Temple Mormonism, page 22)
Masons
"He (the candidate) is raised on what is called the five points of fellowship, . . . This is done by putting the inside of your right foot to the inside of the right foot of the person to whom you are going to give the word, the inside of your knee to his, laying your right breast against his, your left hands on the back of each other, and your mouths to each other's right ear (in which position alone you are permitted to give the word), and whisper the word Mahhah-bone. . . He is also told that Mahhah-bone signifies marrow in the bone."
(Freemasonry Exposed, pages 84-85)
2. When the candidate receives "The First Token of the Aaronic Priesthood" he makes a promise similar to the oath taken in the "First Degree" of the Masonic ritual.
Mormons
". . .we will not reveal any of the secrets of this, the first token of the Aaronic priesthood, with its accompanying name, sign or penalty. Should we do so, we agree that our throats be cut from ear to ear and our tongues torn out by their roots."
(Temple Mormonism, page 18 )
Masons
". . .I will. . . never reveal any part or parts, art or arts, point or points of the secret arts and mysteries of ancient Freemasonry. . . binding myself under no less penalty than to have my throat cut across, my tongue torn out by the roots, . . ."
(Freemasonry Exposed, p. 21-22)
3. In both ceremonies the thumb is drawn across the throat to show the penalty.
Mormons
"Sign—In executing the sign of the penalty, the right hand, palm down, is drawn sharply across the throat, . . .
(Temple Mormonism, page 18 )
Masons
"This is given by drawing your right hand across your throat, the thumb next to your throat, . . ."
(Freemasonry Exposed, p. 23)
14. Both the Masons and the Mormons have a vow regarding "chastity."
Mormons
" 'You and each of you do covenant and promise that you will not have sexual intercourse with any of the opposite sex except your lawful wife or wives who are given you by the holy priesthood.' "
(Temple Mormonism, page 21)
Masons
"Furthermore do I promise and swear that I will not violate the chastity of a Master Mason's wife, mother, sister, or daughter, I knowing them to be such, nor suffer it to be done by others, if in my power to prevent it."
(Freemasonry Exposed, pages 74-75)

On what you posted above, I've got nothing. that's looking way deeper into the religion than I'd care to.
I just look at religion as if it works for you, then congrats. I don't view Mormonism as really being any more extreme than Christians, Catholics, Muslims, etc. They all believe in something wacky.
I'm just unsure of what exactly gives them such a bad rap. There's douche canoes in every religion. But don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to defend anything they do. They personally bug the fuck out of me, but I'm coming from a long bitter background of dealing with the religion. It was pretty much forced upon me as a teenager, i.e. if I didn't go to church that week, I couldn't drive for the next two weeks.Comment

Sorry to have delved deeper, it's just something I found that kinda answered my questions about their temples and recommends, and ceremonies in the temple.
