For me, best decision i've ever made. If i hadn't been injured, i would've made a career out of it.
But you REALLY need to weigh the options, and talk to as many people who have served as possible. Get all the angles and opinions you can.turk@gutenparts.com

I can't speak highly enough about where the Army has got me. Just know exactly what you want before you talk to a recruiter and don't give in until they give you exactly that. I went from selling greasy chicken at KFC to this...

I am in the Helicopter in this shot, you can see my feet in the crack of the ramp, I was a Flight Engineer on a/c 236 on that day in the Konar Valley in 2006, the picture was taken by chalk-2...Comment

I joined the army at age 30 so you can say I got a late start, something I should have done 11 years earlier with my best friend. It has been good for the most part but like hooker stated, know what you want before you go in and don't leave with anything less!!! I've been in for over 3 years now but I still don't know if I will make a career out of it. I'm a H60 Blackhawk Maintainer so I have lots of options if I decide not to stay in. I can also go back to driving trucks over the road if I so choose. Consider all options and pick what is best for you!!! Look at all branches as well. I was headed for the Marines before my Marine recruiter told me to check out the Army because they could offer more for my family. Believe it or not, not all recruiters will feed you line after line. Make sure you ask questions about everything. If you don't ask, you may never find out. Some recruiters will tell you everything while others will only tell you what you ask them. Good luck with your decision. Some people just need a sympathetic pat...

I cant give any advice on the military.... But have you thought of a career in law enforcement? Ive been to numerous tests for CHP and local police agencies. Id estimate a good 40% of the applicants were or are in the military. It seems like if you have an interest in the military, law enforcement may not be a bad option.Originally posted by blunti would jerk larry king off while tonging jflips ass if h0lmes would blow his head offComment

There is also CBP or ICE these organizations work on strict doctrines that the Military uses. But you reside at home vs where they want you.Comment

Joinng the Military was one of the best things I ever did. Pretty much have the same comments that everyone else does. I did 10 years in the Army National Guard, and currently joining the Air Force Reserves. Definitely consider all branches, including the Coast Guard.Comment

just had my first 4 simulator hops in this. If you have questions about the Navy, or officer programs, ask. There's a few others on the boards that might be able to help you out.
(I'd type more, but I have a practice sim to get ready for tomorrow.)sigpic89 M3Comment
