A "real" M3

e30 M3 = real sport car with real racing pedigree. The stuff automotive legend is made from.
e36 M3 = very soft sport car with no pedigree. Won't live a trace in history.
e46 M3 = another blend GT. Soon to be forgotten.
092 M3 = impress your neighboors. Won't be fixable in 10 years.

lol at purists. Yes the E30 M3 is awesome. Newer M3s aren't that bad. I wouldn't turn down an E90 or E92 M3, in fact given the appropriate circumstance I'd probably buy one; I think it would make a badass DD. Same goes for the E46 and honestly even the E36. Boo hoo it only has a single throttle. Still a fun car.

No they don't make em quite like they used to any more, but neither newer or older BMWs are crap. I dig bimmers from all eras, if you refuse to appreciate the newer ones you are no better than the guys who own the newer ones seeing piles of shit when they look at E30s or 2002s.

my roommate has an e92. Simply beautiful car. It really is an amazing piece of machinery- but the design philosophy behind it is completely different. (I mean, it has a cooled drink holder in the console and these arms that bring the seatbelt forward when the door is closed.) Appreciate other M3's for what they are: very fast and well-engineered street cars. I'm currently DDing my M3 (fuck my e23, that piece of shit- PM if you want it ;-) ) and I can honestly say it's terrible as a DD, not to mention the heartache it gives me to DD it.
