Fundemental difference between Liberals and Conservatives

Yeah, the fact that religion has any impact at all on legislation is disgusting. This is a very diverse country and religion has no place in laws, schools, the workplace, ect. This country was founded primarily by deists. "Under God" wasn't added until the 50's. During the 20's and into the 40's there was a large atheist movement spurred by urbanization - but the cold war wiped that out. People either don't understand history or ignore it. I don't think anything good comes out of Religion mixed with politics. -

you already stated your religion, do you feel like there is anything currently wrong with the governments stance on religion?
you sound like you are middle of the road.Leave a comment:

agreed.
- immigration : Build the wall. Make current illegals tax paying citizens or get out.. and then let in people that can fill jobs. with a ~9.4% unemployment rate the time of 'they do jobs that americans won't do' is over. If you want to come here: i welcome you with open arms... but do it right and don't become a burden on those around you. And to anyone that says illegals contribute despite lack of proper taxes... PM me for my opinion

the fact that college kids live for the moment and don't think about death has more to do with that they are college kids than their political bias. The way i have seen it at college is that the hard core liberals don't believe there is a greater purpose than life on earth at all, and live for the moment, and don't think about death and stuff. I worked with one of the most hard core raging liberals that the world has ever produced and he firmly believed there was no God and that people ceased to be when they died. I asked him if that bugged him, apparently it doesn't.
So there is one difference i see. But of course there are Libs who believe in God and vice versa.
as someone who's taken the time to think on the matter and wound up a non-believer, i realize that death is the end, and it follows that to live carelessly or without self-awareness would be a huge waste.Leave a comment:

I'll throw my opinion in the hat. Grew up lower middle class - at 24 I make more than my parents. My parents are pot smoking hippies who expect everything to be handed to them. They are nearing retirement age, broke, and play the lottery like there is no tomorrow. As far as I know they have never had health insurance.
I'm an atheist libertarian and am strongly socially liberal. I disagree with their general point of view. As with everything, political stance is a combination of all life experiences.
- abortion: pro-choice
- gay marriage : I don't see why not
- death penalty : yes
- gun control : should be non-exsistant
- religion: Heavily atheist
- income bracket : Fluctuates heavily - but pretty good
- homeowner : yes
- in favor of burning gasoline :yes
- do i believe in global warming : How can you not? But it may not be man made.
- economics : fiscal conservative
- wars in iraq/afghanistan : starting to understand how safe we are.
- universal healthcare : Worst idea ever
- immigration : Block the fucking borderLeave a comment:

-abortion: should not used because you a condom again. There are cases where it is necessary to save a life. also rape and insest are pretty heavy issues here. It shouldn't be a free for all...
- gay marriage : Let them do what they way. Bob and Mike getting married doesn't hurt me... and then they pay a marrage tax and have to adopt kids in order to have a dependent. I feel like this is a win win win (they're happy... a potential child gets a two parent home... and extra taxes)
- death penalty : fuck yes
- gun control : to own a gun you should have to prove that you are of sane mind and are able to use it responsibly.
- religion: Freedom of religion is important
- income bracket : I'm a student that intends on being highly educated (1 associate's, two bachelor's, two masters as well as two German diploms)... I feel that the more you make the more you can afford to pay, but that the rate should change (like an exponential graph) so that the guy making a billion a year pays more than the guy making 200k... but by no means should he have to pay 33%
- homeowner : no
- in favor of burning gasoline : hell yes
- do i believe in global warming : yes, but cars are a very small part of this. less than 20% i believe. We can't just focus on cars.. we need to hit it from every angle as there is pollution... or else we won't catch up.
- wars in iraq/afghanistan : regardless of why we went there.. if we leave now (after WE took out the established status-quo) i give it 2 months until civil war breaks out and then we wait for the most blood thirsty to rise to the top. no thank you. we need to finish this shit and make it stable
- universal healthcare : I agree with the theory. If you need help: you should get it. If you're a doctor: you should get paid. If you make money off of people's suffering: fuck you. -I have a very good friend with MS... try and tell her that current health care works.
And to anyone that says illegals contribute despite lack of proper taxes... environment. your world view is reflected by what you see as just and unjust around you. i live in the country, so gun control isn't a big deal, everyone owns a gun and we shoot in our backyards.
however i watch my dad getting raped on taxes for being a successful small (growing however) business owner. why the fuck are they punishing him for creating wealth and jobs?Leave a comment:
