    Left vs Right?

I read something interesting last night, I'd like to hear your thoughts and whether or not you agree with it.

Basically, the left and right wings of our political spectrum can be summed up thusly: The right tends towards individualism, and the left tends towards collectivism.

People on the right tend to believe that we are all first and foremost responsible for ourselves, while people on the left believe that we must collectively be responsible for each other.

Thus when it comes to self-defense, people on the right tend to see their personal safety as a personal responsibility. People on the left see personal safety as something to be put into the hands of the collective.

Likewise, people on the right see government as an instrument of the collective and dangerous to individuality, while people on the left see government as the vehicle by which the collective coordinates the efforts of the collective. This makes people on the right far more likely to be distrustful of their government, and likely to bear arms in the traditional, Constitutional sense of defending against tyranny than people on the left, who tend to be far more trusting of their government, for they see it as representing the will of the collective.

Joey, please, buy a gun when your balls drop, always vote no on more taxes, fuck any and all social programs, and allow everyone to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, and leave r3vlimited alone. This thread is h0lmosexual.

Yes, I agree with it. it pretty much defines the mindset and the basic emotional responses of the two "sides" of politics.

I am one of the "collectivists".

The right scares me, as I would rather live in a "society".

I don't think anyone anywhere should own a firearm of any sort, police and military included.

I think we should be able to help one another, and not need a "government" to dole out the goodies and keep the peace.

The only issue is the greedy fuckers who wanna own everything, and expect others to work for them and make them rich...so basically, human nature interferes with the basic principle with which I would prefer to live my life.

So yeah, to you and those who think like you, I am a freak. I want to believe in the goodness of humans. The willingness to share, to help one another so we can all prosper.

We all know it will never work.

You're not a freak to me, I respect you and therefore I respect your opinion and beliefs ;)

Believe it or not, I used to think the same way. I think I'd do very well in a commune type environment.

amen. the entrepreneueral (sp?) drive from the likes of bill gates, donald trump, and warren buffet have created no doubt millions of jobs, and they should be compensated as such.

I thought the thread was about this.

                          http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/25/the-ultimate-crossover-samoas-plan-to-switch-to-left-hand-traf/

Samoa's prime minister has decided to do something for his constituents who want to buy cheap cars: swap driving from the right-hand side to the left-hand side. The reasoning behind the move is that Australia and New Zealand are Samoa's biggest trading partners, and driving in the same manner they do -- like the English -- will let Samoans buy cheaper cars from the antipodes.

this country was founded on the principals of limited government and self reliance.
if you don't like your life because you're in a dead end job, figure out how to improve yourself and DO IT.
its not mine or blunts or pinepigs or anyone else's responsibility to better your life. its up to you.
if the fucking government would get out of the way, we'd all be better off.
“There is nothing government can give you that it hasn’t taken from you in the first place”
