rap doesn't condone cop killing. sure there are a few rappers/groups that talk about it, but as a whole it isn't something accepted. try listening to talib kweli and that should open you up a little to the many different styles and messages rap brings to the table.

People who condone a whole genre of music as bad tend to be the ones with the most terrible taste in music.

I can get down with Jay-Z, he can have some killer flow, only thing I've heard recently is his new single on Fuse though.

Yes. Is there something wrong with documenting street life and proliferating it through the oral tradition, set to a backdrop of a booming bass line? Future anthopologists will attempt to learn about our modern society through its culture, and music is part of culture.

Mr. blunt is more old school than that. His dad nearly disowned him after finding a Miles Davis album sitting on his Victrola one evening. His backside definitely suffered the indignities of a leather belt swung in anger.

I think the album is pretty decent.

                              blunt,

there's bad music in every genre. plus any real fan of hiphop/rap will tell you 99% of the shit that comes out of the south is pure garbage.

At the moment it would probably be On To the Next One. Catchy, heavy beat and easy to sing along with. Great stuff for clubs, parties, etc.

Empire State of Mind is good too, and I do like Thank You and Run This Town.

On a side note I'm a fan of everything from Gang Starr to G-Unit, Rakim to Weezy. Old school hip-hop is personally my favorite but I can definitely appreciate the new stuff designed for dancing and having fun. Music is meant to be enjoyed, not judged.
